Joon Park will be playing Yamcha in the first movie. He DOES exist.
Tein will likely exist since he isn't a midget so he is more believable.
Ah I see, I wonder if he will be playing Bulma's boyfriend or if that detail will be striked from the movie. Thanks for the update.
On the terms of Tenshinhan being more believble I have seen many midgets in my life but nobody with three eyes.

Fair enough but why can't that website spell Roshi right most of the time?JAPPO wrote:[YAMCHA] 20s, "the bad boy who has no trouble attracting women," he taunts Goku, Bulma and Master Yoshi, who are trapped in a sand cave, rather than helping them with his rope ladder. Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight
Honestly, other than Yamcha being introduced before Krillin and Tien, I don't see why he should be in any of the movies, I mean, if any of the Z senshi had to be dropped (other than Chaotzu), Yamcha is the first I think of, as his relevance is negated to nothing practically half way through dragon ball, let alone z.

He wasn't the "idiot who shouldn't be fighting the universally strong/Red Ribbon Army/Piccolo" like in DBZ, he actually helped the characters, even going to Baba's polace with Goku, Kuririn and Upa.
Vegeta, let alone Frieza or Buu didn't appear in Dragonball, so Yamcha was still important.
and this movie's a Dragonball movie, not a DBZ movie, still replacing Kuririn with "Teto" still makes me a bit sad.

Sorry, but I strongly disagree with that. People that whine about something without doing anything about it are just about the most worthless people I can think of. Things get fixed when people go out and fix them, not when people whine about why it's not being fixed.FindKenshi wrote:complaining about things is how you get them fixed
I'm not advocating going and holding the movie crew at gunpoint until they make a perfect product, and I'm not saying you're guilty of this (though many people are)... I'm just saying that, in general, complaint paired with doing nothing really shows an offensive lack of character in a person

And to contribute to the thread: Who's to say that the Japanese won't love Teto and he'll make an appearance in a new animated movie?

Well, since we're talking movie predictions...!
I believe that, somewhere in the first movie, possibly right before the Big Climactic Final Battle™, Piccolo will say something along the lines of him and Goku being a lot a like. Goku will deny it and Piccolo will bring up his ancestroy as a Saiyan, something he figured out by seeing how he fights or something. Goku will, of course, just brush it off as Piccolo trying to trick him.
Since Movie Piccolo seems to be a mix of both Daimo and Majunior Piccolo doesn't die at the end of the movie. His palace/cave/evil lair/whatever collapses on him but we see his fingers moving just before the credits roll (or just after the end) to show that he's still alive.
Now we get to the second movie. Goku is at the World Martial Arts tournament with Bulma, Chi-Chi, Yamcha, and probably Teto (though I've doubts Teto's a fighter). Piccolo is in the shadows watching wanting to see how much Goku's improved.
It's here that we get a quick introduction to Tien and find out he and Goku are currently fighting each other in the finals. But before the match can get very far a big ship comes down into the city and lands near the stadium.
It's Raidtz and now Goku finds that, yes, he really is an alien. Of course, in traditional movie fasion Raditz comes with a small army of soldiers for the sake of conquering the Earth to make into a new Planet Vegeta. And thus we get a small battle royale of Goku, Tien, and Yamcha repelling the soldiers. After a bit Piccolo steps in to help for the same general reason he did in the series.
Raditz and the soldiers are beaten but Goku dies in the battle. Raditz, as he's dieing, tells the Z Fighters that they've already lost anyway. Nappa and Vegeta, who are much stronger than him, are already on their way to Earth, he was just sent ahead of them to get the planet ready for their arrival.
Tien offers to join the others and we get our quick training montage sequence (Oh god, I just pictured something Rocky-esque ._.) as well as some character building work for Tien and such. Then we get the fight against Nappa and Vegeta and so on. Everyone dies, Goku shows up, saves the day, Vegeta escapes.
Goku, Chi-Chi (what? I always thought she should have fought more in the series >>), Bulma, and Teto make plans to go to Namek to revive Tien, Yamcha, and Piccolo (though Goku's the only one that really wants to revive Piccolo). Then before/after the credits we see both Vegeta and Freeza making their own plans to visit Namek~

If you guys are disputing the authenticity of the CHUD.Com character synoposis just because they misspelled Roshi's name wrong, you shouldn't. What Chud.Com released has not been shot down by any offical source, and so far everything it has said has been bang on accuarte, with the other news we have recieved from offical sources.

Hey everyone. This post may seem off-topic to some and for that I apologize.
This site has been on my radar for years, but I never really bothered to sign up until now, when the live action movie is in production. I'm 14 years old. I grew up with DB/Z. That was my childhood. I am attatched to it as many 30 year olds are attatched to Transformers and GI Joe. I grew up with the FUNimation dub, and I know that gets a lot of crap here, but those were the voices I knew and loved (but the Ocean voices are better in hindsight, IMO).
But now, unfortunately, DB is a dead fad. It's constantly hounded by people for calling it "not a real anime" and ragging on it for long energy charges, yelling, and stuff. And I think that opinion of the general public may doom this movie. I see that they are trying to revive the franchise, but it's too soon. TF was twenty-three years old when the movie was released, and people looked at it like, "Ooo I remember that show when I was a kid! That show was awesome!" But the opinion of DB now, in general is, "uh." It needs to wait until the kids who watched it when they were little look on it happily. Teenagers like me think everything they loved when they were kids is stupid and irrelevant. But not me.
Another concern is, they've changed it too much. Just the general outline of the film's plot just isn't right. I think DB just can't be done in live action and should stay as is, a cartoon and an awesome manga.

Senator, a lot of people think that, but I'd rather move on from that.
Anyway, I found an interview with Chatwin, I'm not sure if he was talking about Dragon Ball, I didn't do any research.
Q: So what would be the schedule that would allow you to make it? Is there a movie that you are working on now?
JUSTIN CHATWIN: Yeah.
Q: What’s that?
JUSTIN CHATWIN: I can’t talk about it.
Q: Can you say what genre?
JUSTIN CHATWIN: No. Sorry. Matisse sometimes, just kidding.
Q: Is it a blockbuster or a big action pic that you’re going to be working on next?
JUSTIN CHATWIN: No, it’s a little smaller.
Q: When will we hear the official announcement of what you’re working on?
JUSTIN CHATWIN: At the 40th annual bathtub race.
Q: Is here a certain genre that you would like to work on? Would you like to put on spandex and be a superhero and work in David’s next film?
JUSTIN CHATWIN: Hey, if it’s a great story, then I’d be more than happy to put on spandex and a g-string and a cowboy hat. If it’s an interesting part or a challenging part, I don’t care how big it is, I’d be more than happy to do it. I’m a very easy actor to work with.

You know for a me, and a lot of other people on this forum, the that time is now. I'm 19, and I suppose I've just passed into that phase of slight nostalgia for old shows that even after all these years of seeing better anime still manage to be entertaining. Maybe for most of the people your age who you freely associate with they haven't reached this stage of acceptance of old fads like Dragonball, or at least they haven't admitted it yet, but I believe there is still a whole generation that is ready to visit Dragonball again.Senator McJillywiggins wrote:But now, unfortunately, DB is a dead fad. That said I don't exactly have high hopes for this movie, but I do hope that it will bring a lot of people back to take a look at the original series. The DB/DBZ dichotomy, where the series changes from a comical fantasy action series to a much more science fiction oriented story make its film adaptation difficult. The science fiction story of Dragonball Z would be easier to bring to the big screen but it's impossible to start in the middle like that without throwing in huge plot wholes.

Well, that's different. You're a fan. The time has always been "now." Transformers fans have always wanted a live action movie, but it's the timing of the public. People just aren't interested in Dragonball anymore. And that uninterest isn't even in a positive way. If the FUNi dub aired, say, 20 years ago, most people would say "I just don't watch it anymore." Now, most people would say, "why would I watch that?" The people who are making the live action film, to make it a success, should at least wait until DBZ is a fond memory of childhood instead of a dead fad.russ869 wrote: You know for a me, and a lot of other people on this forum, the that time is now.
They were probably smoking weird stuff when they made the script. Teto? Wtf?SonEric84 wrote:NeptuneKai wrote:Yes because we all remember the duo of Teto and Goku fighting the Namek ninja's on earth.Sun_Wukong wrote: Uh hardly, Guile as the main character and Ryu and Ken as supporting characters? hahahaha Now that was great. Teto? Where do they come up with this stuff..oi..
Yeah, this JAPPO guy is pissing everyone off in another forum aswell. Since all he does is attack everyone who doesnt support whole-heartedly this movie that isnt even finished.B-kun wrote:I'm beginning to think JAPPO is going insane with no DTX to wage war on. >>; Anyway, we should probably try discussing the movie and what (incredibly) little we know about it instead of being all random. Or just let the thread die until new info appears.
You either support it 100% or prepare to be flamed by JAPPO.

I disagree with that. JAPPO isn't flaming people, he's merely trying to get them to at least be a LITTLE positive about it. I've got a lot of reservations about the film, personally I would much rather have a truly faitful adaption, but you don't see me and him bickering...I think. We may have when this first started, but think about it - what he's saying is true, wouldn't you rather try to be a little optimistic so that maybe you can see the film as a good movie on it's own, even if it isn't a good DBZ movie?

If you have an opinion against the movie or for the movie you should be prepared to be challenged.
I know this movie isn't going to be a masterpiece, it's going to be a summer popcorn flick. It's not catering to every fans wishes because it wants to make money like every other movie.
People who can't accept it's being made, you should know that Akira Toriyama had no problem selling out after the Freeza saga. He sold the rights, it's his creation he can do what he wants and no one is forcing you to watch the movie.
Be grateful you are getting a new score, some new takes on the characters, and something new Dragon Ball related. If you don't like it, then okay whatever. If you have your mind set on hating it before a trailer is even released, then whatever I guess being miserable is fun too.
EDIT - by the way, they might even end the series the way Akira wanted before he sold out with the planet namek exploding. I want to see that.

Well put.
Edit: "Sold out" is a little harsh though. Fan and publisher demand really was the prime reason for continuing the series... :/
