New pics:

Image

Translation: Goku will fight here, Bulma will save him from something.

Cameras will be placed in all directions for different angles. Most of the filming here will be by stables.

Image

Translation: Unknown. Maybe a Dragon Ball location?

Image

Translation: This is an old pic, but according to the source it will "represent the temple or kami-sama palace." This seems unlikely... it looks more like a tournament. Says it will be used as a place of combat for Goku, and filming will take four days there. It took 15 days of work to assemble the set.

The entire movie is being filmed in Mexico, post production and maybe some green screens will be in L.A.

Wasn't there supposed to be some in Canada too, or were those thrown out?

Haven't kept up much with this topic, so I apologize if this has already been answered. X_X

Indeed... This is not gonna look too Dragonball-ish.
Not to mention Bulma saving Goku? Ugh...

They're pretty backgrounds, but I don't think of DB at all when I look at them. I think of Mexico. ^_^;;

Now the backdrops in that trailer for "The Forbidden Kingdom" made me think of DB.
On hiatus.

The second pic can work, third with CGI can work. The first, though, yeah it looks like Mexico. Oh well, it's supposedely a short scene.

EDIT - More pics.

The news keeps pouring in.
--------
With regard to the characteristics of the locations, Gutierrez Barraza emphasized that these are strange landscapes, "but not rare." "They are landscapes that are not easy, but in Durango we have several of these, such as Laguna Seca in Santiaguillo, which is a space as if the world were starting or had already been finished," explained the director of the state agency.

Also abounded that the locations are not common environments, since the nature of the film places unusual demands and Durango at its wealth Geographic enjoys an extended range.

"Producers arrive until next week in the area of post-production," said the interviewer, while he said that although the dates for casting and "finished", they will continue on a permanent basis.

There were approximately 700 thousand people who auditioned, but will be about a thousand that will participate in this production.

"There are scenes in which involved up to 500 extras at once," said Sergio Gutierrez.

------
What this tells us:

- A variety of landscapes will be used
- Film is using the most of its surroundings (?)
- 700,000 people auditioned? (Maybe a misprint)
- Around 1000 characters in this movie (extras included, of course). I'm not sure if this is usual for a movie, but it seems pretty huge to me.
- Will be massive scenes that require up to 500 people at once.

Sorry for double post... but I thought this deserved another post. Source.

JAPPO'S recent penultimate post here: call me weird, but those are what I see as Dragonball-ish locations. Not to mention, whenever I see the anime, it looks like the world they live in is a very hot place.

When did they change their mind? The INITIAL news blurb that started this chain reaction of news, was word from animenewsnetwork that "filming was to begin in Montreal, where they were constructing the set for Dragonball and the sequel to Night at the Museum."

You guys are way behind on the news :D . Not trying to be rude, but damn!

The reports made about Canada were false. 85% of the film will be shot in Durango, Mexico. Production resumes next week. This is confirmed.

They mentioned Mexico City and maybe L.A. as the other 15%.

What? Then maybe Goku won't even be a highschool student. Maybe Son Gohan won't get killed by Piccolo's ninja. I had no idea the Montreal thing was false. Maybe Chud.com's character synopsis was all false after all...but still wouldn't explain casting a non-buff teen to play Goku.

Goku should have been a ripped, martial arts superstar for this movie. Tis bad casting. Goku's never been a weakling during his entire life. Even when he was a little kid, he was tanking bullets and throwing cars, and karate chopping giant boulders. HE's never been a pushover, and he's never been unpopular.

Re: palace of Kami Sama-- though I find it hard to believe that Kami will be much involved, I could see it beingg the setting for the "tournament of champions" mentioned by Chud.com.

Bulma saving Goku isn't too insane; it's entirely possible that he like, gets his ass handed to him, is left for dead, (or maybe there's like... an explosion or something about tohappen, or some stupid cliche like that), and she drags him out of there. On second thought... Meh.
Though something like that happens in one movie idea I've got notes on, where essentially Piccolo Daimao fights (Grandpa) Gohan to the death, Goku tries to interfere and gets pwn'd, and Bulma takes him out of there while Gohan and Piccolo continue their fight. I don't get the impression something like that would fit based on what we've heard, but... umm... I'm going to stop now.

Seems kinda small if they are gonna do the Tenkaichi Budokai. I'd expect a lot more than 1000 people would be in the audience.

Right. "Bulma saves Goku" doesn't have to mean "Bulma beats the enemy Goku lost to."

The atmosphere of a movie can be greatly altered digitally, and that's not new technology. O Brother Where Art Thou?, for example, changed the palette of the whole film and it didn't have a massive budget. It was shot in a green, lush landscape and ended up in dusty and yellowish hues, making it look just like the dustbowl era southern U.S.. Also, we're looking at the complete pictures - in movie form we're only going to be looking at certain angles with certain colour schemes and the locations will look very different. Using the right angles and extras in the right places can give the illusion of a small building being much bigger, in the case of something like a tournament scene. If you could pan out in a Lord of the Rings movie, you'd notice a lot of the locations, like the forests, are just props in a large studio or smaller landscapes from a flattering angle. So, I doubt it is going to look just like this. I think these locations so far have a lot of potential. I love the campiness of the cave with the perfectly shaped entrance.
