Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #1 Thread: "Broly"
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Wondering how the announcement of a One Piece movie for next summer impacts any potential Super TV series return next spring. Would next summer be more likely than next spring for Super to come back to TV in light of this?
On hiatus.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
It all depends on who's working on what and how the production schedules are set up. I do think it increases the chances of Super returning in July but I'm not going to rule out April just yet.Chuquita wrote:Wondering how the announcement of a One Piece movie for next summer impacts any potential Super TV series return next spring. July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Who knows? Maybe there would be other Saiyans that come to Earth to attack, not just Broly, and Piccolo counters their giant ape form with his own giant Namekian form. He has so many abilities it just sucks that it's never utilized.PFM18 wrote:Yeah I could see this happening. Then proceed to stop his babysitting service and sense the battle of the big guns, sweat trickling down his face.
Somehow that justifies him getting his own poster so they can tease us Piccolo fans but hell no I'm not falling for it.
They just love to troll us![]()
Although to be fair, he hasn't been labeled as "one of the big guns" since he fused with Kami.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Roshi’s not going to have a proiminate role, but he’ll be more “there” or have some knowledge of something (not fighting wise) and will seem more usefule story wise then them making Piccolo job to Broly. Its not that I want it that way, its how it will be if Toriyama doesn’t rewrite him. If it was up to me, they’d all be used in some capacity, even Yamcha. Goten will never be a main star, in SDBH where everything happens, I don’t think he’s even had a prominate moment. Trunks is a different story but he won’t be used until he is older for now they will be filler arcs and slice of life stories, and comedy breaks like Pilaf. If anyone thinks anyone other than Bulma, Goku and Vegeta of the main cast will have more of a prominent role other than dropping a one liner or fainting when Broly flexes will more than likely be upset when it comes out, just like every other arc and movie with the exception of the ToP which in my opinion was acknowledging the friends they made in the past one last time in a prominent role.ricky84 wrote:There's also the fact that Piccolo is in the DBS Broly film and Roshi isn't.TheOne wrote:The fact that you believe Roshi is going to play a bigger roll in the future of dragon ball than Goten and Trunks is just absurd.Xeztin wrote:Piccolo is in the same state of Buu, Tien, Trunks, Goten and every other non main character except Roshi and Bulma. There were so many characters that were created and befriended by Goku until now that Toriyama pretty much stopped Supporting them during the Saiyan arc. Buu was never anything in Super, they teased but ammounted to nothing. Piccolo has had the same clothes and powers since he was introduced. The ToP was more than likely the last hoo-rah for everyone except Roshi, Bulma, Goku, Gohan, Freeza, and the Gods. Piccolo is far out dated in terms of design and powers. I hate to say it but he needs new power, clothes, and transformations before Toei will get behind him as a big gun.
Goten and Trunks are CLEARLY being saved for adventures down the road. Just because they showed Roshi in this tournament does not mean that he’s going to be a prominent figure in the series. You come across as a Roshi homer. Everything in your statement is just silly. Piccolo finished? He trained Gohan for goodness sake. You think he’s not able to be a mentor to any of the younger fighters down the road? Ridiculous.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Clothes sells figures, like outfits and transformations. If they don’t use him in some compacity to sell toys or merch then they are not going to give him a prominate role. Broly and Trunks were chosen to sell toys and because of their fanbase, thats why they were redesigned. Blue hair for Trunks and spirit bomb sword and new form, redesign of clothes for Broly and story. The only prominate figures will be Vegeta and Goku. The rest will unfortunately have a one liner or will faint at Broly flexing unless Toriyama gives them attention. Roshi does more in his gag scenes most of the time during filler than they do in battle as he is used for comedic relief. I think Buu and Satan got more attention in filler. Its not that I want it that way, it’s just if a character isn’t used to sell merc, he’s not going to be prominent or play a major role unless its a few filler scenes of comedic relief. My pont is that you have two classes. You have Goku and Vegeta and then “everybody else”. Shenlong was more useful in battle of Gods than 90 percent of the main cast just for his knowledge alone. Beerus had his way with them and they were used to stall time for Goku just like in every DBZ arc.namekiansaiyan wrote:What has clothes got ro with anything?Xeztin wrote:Piccolo is in the same state of Buu, Tien, Trunks, Goten and every other non main character except Roshi and Bulma. Roshi has done nothing major at all but you are referring to your expectation of Roshi due to him doing nothing during Z. Gohan went missing and is doing the same again so I don't know why you are listing him. Piccolo is also definitely not like Buu, Tien, Goten and Trunks.

Whether this news will have any bearing on what will happen in the movie or not is still up for query, but I thought I would still drop this tidbit anyway as it may have relevance in the future.
Apparently, thanks to the newest update for Xenoverse 2, dataminers were able to uncover the placeholder data for the next two characters set to debut in the Winter DLC:
Its Broly and Gogeta.
Obviously it is has a bearing to the movie.
If it was FIghterZ you could be more cautious, but with XV2 there's already have everything related to current Gogeta. So another one pretty much confirms him a new one appearing here.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
There's absolutely nothing interesting at all about Gogeta, he's just another Goku with a shitty costume. I really hope he isn't in the movie because it will let it down big time.
They could do with fazing this whole Fusion nonsense out of the series to be honest.

All i have to day about this XV2 news is...

But I bet you would be happy about Vegetto appearing yet again? Also first of all, his costume isn't shitty, it's the traditional Fusion Dance outfit.Bullza wrote:There's absolutely nothing interesting at all about Gogeta, he's just another Goku with a shitty costume. Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Some thoughts about that spoiler...
I think I've given my thoughts enough times as to why I don't want to see Gogeta in this movie, so I don't really want to repeat myself. I'll give them a chance, though. Super's got this good habit of having bad ideas that actually turn out to be good for me. Maybe they can pull that off with Gogeta.
I just don't know how they'll introduce him without it feeling forced. If it's literally going to be "Shit. We can't beat this guy. Let's fuse." then fuck that. We've already seen that with Vegetto in the Buu arc and we just got it in the Future Trunks arc. If it does unfold like that, then I hope that it still doesn't work and Gogeta gets his shit stomped anyway. I feel like that's what'll end up happening if that interview with Akio Iyoku a few months back is anything to go by.
I just realised that the Budokai 3 opening has been brought to life.
Yeah, and then what would help save the day? Let me guess... UI again, because that's so fresh and exciting right after it just happened.Super Saiyan Swagger wrote:If it does unfold like that, then I hope that it still doesn't work and Gogeta gets his shit stomped anyway
Gogeta will save the day. Fusions usually are more successful in movies than in episodes.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
No I wouldn't, Vegito is almost as lousey, he's not as bad because he doesn't look as much like Goku and he has a better outfit but he's not interesting either.Xeogran wrote:But I bet you would be happy about Vegetto appearing yet again? It works for Merged Zamasu because it created a whole unique look and it factored in that he was only part immortal so it messed up in ways which created a flaw by fusing.
Gogeta though is just boring. That would be such lame a cop out if they use him to defeat Broly. Why is he so popular? He was in the Fusion Reborn for an entire 2 minutes and was nothing but a joke in GT.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
I just hope his screen time isn't as short as it was in Fusion reborn. Now that Broly and possibly Gogeta are canon, when can we expect Cooler to follow ?

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
I've never seen a dataminer been wrong before so... I'll just assume this to be true, to which I gotta say:
Gogeta's already in the game but the same goes for Android 17, he was already in the game, yet, was once again introduced in his Dragon Ball Super version. I'm kinda glad for Gogeta, it was high time he appears and such, maybe he will get a new design. But the context in which he is involved is not favoring him. I mean, Gogeta should have appeared in Future Trunks saga, he would have had fit a role much better in there.
On the other hand, if this Gogeta coming up into XV2 is somehow related to the movie, meaning that he will appear in it, then it might be a reason for me to watch the movie entirely, not just the past part of it. Well, we shall see how things turn out to be.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
I'd rather Broly's overwhelming power be what defeats him. Literally becomes too strong to handle, and serves as a realisation for Goku that the strength that he's aiming for might not be such a good idea.Xeogran wrote:Yeah, and then what would help save the day? A certain GodVegetto ain’t gonna be too happy about this.
But I'm loving it. Bardock, Broly, Gogeta. This is definetly, by far, the most fanservice-y and wild Movie 1 of any DB series.

And be botchered such as Vegetto did? I'd rather not. In this movie, we'll be getting Toriyama's vision of Gogeta, which isn't going to be messed up by either the Toei writers or Toyotaro's ideas.Grimlock wrote:I mean, Gogeta should have appeared in Future Trunks saga, he would have had fit a role much better in there.
