Dragonball Z: Carddass W Impact

Post by AceSharp » Sat Jan 19, 2008 12:38 pm

Does anyone remember Dragonball Z 2V, the ever-so-slightly-souped-up Japenese version of Budokai 2?

Well it seems that Dimps are going one better this time, taking Budokai 3 and completely tearing it apart to create what seems like a whole new game! However the downside is that it appears to be arcade only.

This could either go one of two ways, but right now I'm thinking it looks pretty hot. The hoping for a home console version begins now. :P

This game looks so bad ass. It just is too cool for words.

Arale? DBGT Goku? Man, I may want this more than burst limit >.<

And it looks like they have some team special moves too.(At about 0:35 it has Gotenks SS(J)3/Gogeta SS(J)4 doing a move together)

Looks awesome.

This looks a helluva lot better than any DBZ game I've seen. Those team moves look really sexy.

Wasn't Super DBZ a arcade only game at first? Then maybe this has a chance of coming over as a port.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Not if it's a Cardass game.

You can only control the characters through cardass cards, which you have to swipe across a reader in the machine. There are quite a lot of these card-arcade games in Japan based on "normal" games (last year I saw card-arcades based on the Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen engine and Dragon Quest Swords).

That really is a crappy idea.

So what we're actually seeing here is a game whose sole existance is to promote some trading cards most people really dont want to waste their money on?

What a waste, looked so promising too.

Couldn't they make an adapter for the PS2 or 3 to read those cards? Like what they did for the DBZ Barcode battler? It's a farfetched idea but hey I'd buy it.

Or....just skip the cards and give the port regular controls! :D

That could work too, come to think of it didn't Super DBZ have something to do with cards back in the Japanese arcade version?

I think you mean those arcade save-chipcards , which are used to save personal information (like rankings). That was also in the console port, in the form of those profile card (on which the attack-tree was saved).

I dig Tenshinhan's scream "Chaozuuu!". San Xing Long's tan's pretty cool, too.

Yeah, this looks like Budokai 3 with added Sparking! Meteor characters and new characters like San Xing Long [Eis Shenron], I like that this has double battles.
