Could 17 go Super 17 on his own?

We all agree that the whole fusion thing in GT makes no sense... Even more if 2 identical looking people fusing into something else.

We know that 17 had the potential to be the strongest but Gero somehow tamed him or whatever.

Further more... In certain games it is shown that 17 can go without Hell Fighter 17.

So do you think we will see something similar in the future for our new canon 17

I think it would make more sense for 17 to have Bulma build him a new body (Super 17's) and have his brain moved into it.

Super 17 wasn't potara fusion nor fusion dance. So you can't say it doesn't make sense for them to look different. When Piccolo fused with Nail he didn't change at all. So it doesn't make sense as well?

Uub can go Majuub on his own in Budokai Tenkaichi.
I wouldn't really count this.

#17 can't go Super 17 on his own because he is pure android and Super 17 is machine-mutant.
Dr Gero couldn't unleash his full potential without knowledge Dr Myuu got from Baby (or Tuffles in general).
So he would either need another fusion or manual upgrade.

Actually #17(and #18) are actually biologically altered humans(though likely with some piece of tech here and there)
That's why Cell could absorb them

Yeah i know, but i'm used to english translation where all of them are called "androids" despite 17 and 18 actually being a cyborgs.

Probably not. The writers of the plot would need something to make him be able to turn that way.
