"From The Past Friday" - Pilaf Voices

Post by VegettoEX » Sat Jan 26, 2008 12:30 pm

I'm a day late, but whatever :P.

In case you haven't had a chance to see it all on the main page yet, the voices for "From The Past Friday" are up!

For this second installment, I'm showcasing some potential voices FUNimation considered for the character of Pilaf back in 2000 when they were going back to re-dub (and continue dubbing) DB. What was so significant about this was that they actually put these samples up on their site and had a little poll asking fans what they wanted. Fancy that, huh...?!
There ya' go! Love to hear what you have to say about the whole situation.

Also, as I stated on the home page, I don't seem to have the Goku voice samples. If anyone still has them sitting around on a hard-drive or CD from back in 2000, please let me know!

I am glad they didn't use number 2. It sounds like a minion a evil scientist would have.
I finally bought a gamecube. To bad they don't make any games for it now.

The second voice sample was awesome enough, though I dunno if it would fit Pilaf like the fourth sample eventually did. Also, is there any reason why some of the sound clips seem to get cut off in the middle of their line? Did they just want each clip to be the same length?

I can only imagine that it was simply quick/sloppy editing when putting the files together. Perhaps they wanted them pretty close to exact lengths to each other, too... dunno!

I can see Pilaf having that stereotypical German-ish mad scientist thing going. I wouldn't like it... but I can totally see it.

Er...not to sound rude or anything Mike, but ya MIGHT wanna change the update. That's not Chuck Huber doing all four, and the four ones for Shao weren't either. In fact, they're all the same voice essentially being done by different people, not the other way around.

#1: Chris Cason (who later got Shao, instead)
#2: Dameon Clarke (surprisingly XD)
#3: Mike McFarland (who actually DID play his voice in "Mystical Adventure")
#4: Chuck Huber

I'm prettymuch certain of all of those, trust me.
