Nope. Four administrators (
Mike, Heath, Julian, Jake) run
Kanzenshuu as a hobby, and all have actual day-jobs. We have volunteer forum moderators and other site contributors. There is currently no company, corporation, organization, etc. We are an old-school, DIY fansite.
We do not work with or enter into agreements with any other companies and we do not monetize our work. The only income is the occasional donation and advertisements, which only exist on the forum, and only for non-logged-in users. This limited income is put directly toward the raw monthly cost of keeping the website online, which I otherwise pay for out of my own pocket.
In the interest of transparency and complete information, the website's monthly hosting costs (ignoring all other expenses such as domains, security, etc., nevermind reference materials and shipping) are rarely covered by these advertisements, and no administrator takes a stipend for their work. We are considering future alternatives and will discuss them when we are ready (which is not now) as we look ahead to the future sustainability and long-term historical plans for the site.
Long story short: this is our hobby, we love it, we are not particularly interested in being financially beholden to anyone in any way for it, and while we value our work we are thoughtful about monetization based on what we do surrounding someone else's intellectual property.
