See the big difference is that these guys are just fans makeing a fun little movie with little to no budget and no intention of profiting from it (I'd assume). Whereas what's happening state side is a multi-million dollar project being made by someone who just wants some easy cash.JAPPO wrote:...You're not in favor of a real live action DBZ movie yet you like THIS?!

Less of the snarky, please. There's no reason I should have to be watching this thread so closely. Thanks.

Well said. Not that I'm actually against the film. I'll probably like the Live action film despite everything. But just because you slap the DragonBall logo on something and name the main character Goku, doesn't make it DragonBall. This fan movie was an alternate re-telling of something just like the Live action movie will be. However the main difference is, the Fan Movie stayed true to the characters themselves. I fear the Live Action movie will not.TriforceCaptre wrote: This = Labor of love.

Nice fan work, with nice effects...
I didn't liked the look of the Goku and Freeza, but the whole vid is very nice for a fan made thing.

For me this is already better, at least about 100 times...Lavender Saiyan wrote:Yet sadly there's a good chance that this'll be better than the American Live Action.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. It's more that we know that the fan movie was keeping in the spirit and style of what we know and love as Dragonball. This new movie hasn't officially released anything to us yet that gives us the idea that the same spirit will be portrayed in this movie.TriforceCaptre wrote:See the big difference is that these guys are just fans makeing a fun little movie with little to no budget and no intention of profiting from it (I'd assume). I would go on to say more about this particular movie, but I already said all that I have to say about it and it's all positive considering the assumed budget of the film.
One thing that struck me about this fan video is that they used the sound effects (and some music?) from the TV show. Which is something that the Fox movie will probably choose not to use in favor of "better" sound effects.

Anyways...for what it was, this fan video was amazingly good.

Is it... ok to have felt slightly embarrassed while watching this?
Anyway, I can probably only sum up my overall thoughts as "LOL". The fight was entertaining, but Freeza was cringe-worthy. I respect that the guy was trying to portray his own Freeza, but after hearing Ryusei Nakao's performance, there simply is no comparison at all.
This fan-Freeza's laughs and screams were also terrible. So it kind of ruined the experience for me. Oh well, I can at least appreciate the ending. I can at least feel that the people who made this vid were as big Freeza fanboys as I was... hell, if I tried to voice Freeza, it'd probably end up being as bad as this. Because there's only one good Freeza out there, and his name is Ryusei Nakao.

The five-minute scream in the middle was flat out annoying (*totally isn't suggesting that DBZ doesn't have said sequences*), but I like what I heard, I guess... I gave up trying to understand the Japanese too quickly to tell much other than "they fought".

Wow. That was terrifying.
Which I guess for Freeza is a good thing. I laughed at those turquoise-green eyes. Seriously though, if you had a Freeza getup like that, you could kick everyone's ass in any cosplay competition, no contest. (not to mention all the people who would be peeing their pants every second at the mere sight of it)

Just take all the stereotypical "Why are you on Earth?" and "You made a fool out of me. I'm going to kill you, your family, your friends, that purple dragon thing of Gohan's, the announcer guy from the Budokai, that rock over there, and everything else you care about!" in where they speak. My Japanese isn't good enough to tell you the exact words, but it was mostly along those lines.caejones wrote:The five-minute scream in the middle was flat out annoying (*totally isn't suggesting that DBZ doesn't have said sequences*), but I like what I heard, I guess... Yeah, I thought about mentioning that, but I figured I'd save stuff like Son Goku's orange gi and Piccolo's green skin for when FOX decided to officially release pictures.Big Momma wrote:Marsters(or however you spell it) has said that Piccolo will be green and bald and have pointy ears.Kendamu wrote: This new movie hasn't officially released anything to us yet that gives us the idea that the same spirit will be portrayed in this movie.
