Old artstyle vs New Artstyle 2.0

This took about 2 hours to make, but I upscaled and heavily cleaned up (mostly by tracing) the line art of this shot by Miyako Tsuji in the new TV promo of the movie, then colored it in from scratch:


The original was a cellphone camera video:


I could have waited for an HD recording, but it would still have all of the text overlays.

Quick little fix:


I noticed some color bleed from the skin onto the blue areas, so I went back and fixed that.

For anyone who may be upset that I'm adding so many images to the pages, I'm deleting the old ones when I make corrections, so they will disappear whenever your cache updates or whatever happens. It's the best I can do since we can't edit posts anymore.

My favourite piece of promo art for Gogeta I love this soooooo much!

Couple months ago we had art for old Gogeta night and day how much better this is.

Even shit promo artisit is doing decent with these designs. I sincerely hope this is the new look for DB from now on. It seems everyone is benefiting from them.

Shintani is even going to save us from shit promo artisits.

Some more expression sheets came out for Goku, apparently created by Isamu Takara(an animator I'm a fan of). I think the sheets are quiet interesting, I feel they are definitely Toriyama, though mixed with a little bit of something else.

I don’t think that’s Takara since sub-character designers don’t handle the main character of a film or tv show.

That means it's Shintani right? So basically, just about every problem he had drawing Goku before is gone now. Most of those look right from the manga, a couple even resemble Buu-saga Toei.

That piece really reminds me of the wonderful art from the unknown 90s promotional artist, especially in the face and layout.
