He didn't have any trouble murdering his way through Dragonball. 8)
And he came to the decision around the time of the 23rd Budokai that, you know, people deserve second chances and that maybe simply killing all of your enemies, when they can't really do anything to you, perhaps isn't the best course of action. Though after Freeza he does know a lost cause when he sees one.

<Kaboom> I'm just glad that he now sounds more like Invader Zim than Rita Repulsa
<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

It could be dismissed as 'retardation' - if you're ignorant or just a hater..

I really can't think of a worse time to enact that than when you're fighting Space Hitler.

Especially when you're telling the guy who slaughtered your entire race and who would've killed you except for a hoary old legend coming true at the right moment and who did explode your best friend and was about to explode your son *breather* that he should go off and get even stronger.

Goku does not have it in him to murder a being who was begging for their life. He was always like that.

I point to the Red Ribbon Base massacre.

True, let's not forget how Tao Pai Pai murdered Upa's father, and then got off the hook (momentarily) cause he begged for his life and promised to 'be good'.

So, Goku doesn't learn from his mistakes, even when it's practically the same situation. :?

I don't think taking the high road is ever a mistake. Especially since he stopped both Tao and Frieza when they tried to attack him.

He seems to have learned from that after the Freeza arch...but whether an enemy can still trick him in that way after that point, is the question..

Well, Goku did give Cell a senzu to fight Gohan.

If anything, Goku has a lot of faith in people that don't deserve it--23rd tournament Piccolo, Raditz, Vegeta (See the fight with Ginyu), and then everyone he tries to make take his place later on... So I guess by the time he gets to Kid Buu, that's sort of questionable (did he doubt the ffectiveness of he Spirit Bomb/Genki Dama in the original?). And yet, despite that Goku was the one throwing the attack that finished Buu, there's no way he could have done it on his own... so in a sense, all of Goku's faith in humanity paid off. Ur... never mind that humanity was wiped out (other than Mr. Satan) a few hours earlier.

So you're okay with Goku's mercy towards Tao Pai Pai, Rocketman?
