Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
This movie seems to keep taking one step forward and then one step back. After a better than expected New Years Eve, today being New Years Day and what I'm told is one of the biggest days of the year...is doing only a bit better than last Tuesday. So far I don't think it'll even do better than yesterday.
Looks like these three days aren't going to be as big as made out to be but by the end of the fourth weekend the movie is estimated to be around ¥3.3-3.4 billion.
It seems like the movie is becoming more likely to become the highest grossing in the series though it's not guaranteed yet and it's got a 50% chance at making ¥4 billion.
There's still no actuals and because of the bank holidays I have no idea when they'll come out.
Additionally the movie made almost $200,000 in Thailand already which is about 5 times what Resurrection F did total.

Numbers for Singapore/Malaysia???
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
The movie sped up a bit during Tuesday and finished ever so slightly above yesterday. Should probably be about ¥90 million ($820,000) for a total around ¥2.84 billion ($25-26 million).
It should hopefully increase tomorrow as it has the last two Wednesday, maybe ¥100-110 million. So it should surpass Battle of Gods total and ¥3 billion on Thursday (unless actuals are better then it could potentially be Wednesday) which means it took Broly 21 days to pass it. In comparison it took Resurrection F 19 days to pass Battle of Gods.

I don't know yet but if did around $760,000 for the weekend between Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore and it did about $200,000 in Thailand then by process of elimination it did about $560,000 between Singapore and Malaysia. Malaysia is the bigger market of the two so maybe a 55/45 split between that amount.Lujin_16 wrote:Numbers for Singapore/Malaysia???

Up to yet Wednesday is doing better than yesterday, it's up about 13% from last Wednesday and seemingly increasing slowly as the day goes on. As I said before it looks like it's going to make ¥100 million today. That would put it at ¥2.94 billion.
So if it hasn't done it already, tomorrow it should pass the ¥3 billion mark ($27 million or so).

great to see it does still well
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
So...how's the movie doing today?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Surprisingly even better than yesterday. Generally Wednesday is the high point amongst the weekdays because it's Ladies Day but Thursday surpassed its total by 6:20pm.FrostByte wrote:So...how's the movie doing today?
Right now it's looking like it's gonna make about ¥110 million ($1 million) So according to estimates it should have passed Battle of Gods and the ¥3 billion mark now ($27-28 million).
Tomorrow it will probably drop hard because it's not a bank holiday but it does mean we might finally get actuals. I know actuals did drop on a January 4th before so it might happen again.
Then there's a good weekend coming, an ordinary Monday, then finally Tuesday is the last bank holiday and then after that it's gonna slow right down.

Weekend actuals(29-30th Dec) - ¥297 million
Admissions - 225,000
Admissions - 225,000
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Its about time something came out. That's up a tiny bit from the estimates. Any word on what the total actuals were at that point? The estimate was about ¥2.660 billion.Saikyo no Senshi wrote:Weekend actuals(29-30th Dec) - ¥297 million

Unlike last year there was no big drop on the Friday, it ended up being a stronger day than Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and is probably looking at ¥100 million ($920,000) for the day.
That should put the total around ¥3.15 billion which is about $28-29 million. The weekend is coming up, I'm hoping for at least ¥200 million there.
Also in Thailand it looks like the movie has made about $500,000 there in 7 days. That's 12 times as much as Resurrection F made there in total.

in Thailand alone ?? that's a success..i'm really cuorius about brazil the movie came out yesterday
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
As expected the movie is being extremely successful in other countries apart from Japan, where it more or less is equal with RoF. I’m eager to know how much it has made so far in the Latin American countries in which it released.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Box Office Mojo has started updating some of its international grosses.
For the weekend it opened at #9 in Singapore with $81,500, it opened at #4 in Thailand with $425,600 and it opened at #6 in Malaysia with $232,500.
And considering that Resurrection F only made $225,000 in Malaysia in total that means Broly has already beat it in just 3 days.
They've got it at making $23.6 million in Japan as of last Sunday as well which was the estimate and that does all add up to $24.38 million which was again the estimate.
They also have it at making $26 million worldwide as of Tuesday and that is what was mentioned on Screen Daily....but that does not add up at all because that would mean it made $1.62 million across Monday and Tuesday and it made about that much in Japan alone.
So I'd guess that some of these figures are just based off of estimates especially as the actuals for Japan still haven't come out.
Edit: Actually that is exactly what they've done. All of the grosses add up to $24,380,290 which is exactly the same to the dollar as what was given on Comscore when they gave their estimates back on the 30th.
So in reality the numbers are different from what Box Office Mojo are saying.

The movie made R$1.6 million ($430,000) on opening day and sold 106,000 tickets.Lujin_16 wrote:i'm really cuorius about brazil the movie came out yesterday
In comparison Battle of Gods and Resurrection F made R$5 million total.
It is the biggest opening day in Brazil, not just for a Dragon Ball movie but for any Japanese movie that's ever released there.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
How is it doing in Japan today?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Worse than yesterday. Probably the weakest day since December 27th despite being a Saturday but a lot of movies fell from yesterday so it's not alone.FrostByte wrote:How is it doing in Japan today?
Its probably made about ¥82 million ($750,000) today. So it's looking at around ¥170-180 million for the weekend.
That's not as much as I had wanted but Friday performed better than I wanted which means it'll end up making about what I expected in the end anyway.
That's about ¥3.23 billion ($29 million) in total so far then.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Unfortunately the movie actually decreased on Sunday something I've not seen happen before. It wasn't just Broly, most movies went down too.
Not sure if that's because of how the dates on the bank holidays fell or what but it's a mediocre weekend. It's Thursday and Friday feels like it should be swapped with the Saturday and Sunday.
Perhaps ¥74 million ($680,000) for Sunday meaning a ¥155 million ($1.43 million) weekend. Probably scrapped ¥3.3 billion (about $30 million) total.
The estimates come out again later, not just for Japan but Worldwide. I'm expecting them to say $32-33 million.
