Is the Westwood dub obtainable anymore in any way?
Is the Westwood dub obtainable anymore in any way or is it pretty much lost media at this point? Please PM me if anyone knows a source where I can get it if possible. If not, I'm probably going to add it to the Lost Media Wiki.

I mean, I'm sure there's no legal way, but as for other methods, that kind of discussion isn't allowed here.

Most of the Westwood and Blue Water stuff is available online in varying levels of quality (Though even at its worst it never reaches the level of that old Filipino DBZ Movie 5 Real Media file). AFAIK GT is complete, OG DB is missing about two episodes (one of which is the one where Krillin shows Roshi Bulma's boobs), and Z is at the very least mostly (if not entirely?) complete. That being said, we're all waiting for better sources to be revealed. Again though, none of that is from official sources. The closest thing to the Westwood Z dub getting an official release was when part of Vegeta's monologue about how Goku was number one from the Boo saga was on a trailer of one of the UK Big Green DVDs.

Dragon Ball is complete too, just not easy to obtain. The easily downloadable version has questionable quality but it's watchable, to say the least.Danfun64 wrote:Most of the Westwood and Blue Water stuff is available online in varying levels of quality (Though even at its worst it never reaches the level of that old Filipino DBZ Movie 5 Real Media file). There are no legal methods to watch the Westwood media dubs.
As far as bootlegging, what goes around online is a mixed bag...
DB is missing two episodes, and while most of the available run is at least decent quality, there are a few that are only barely watchable. Z is not really much better, though its complete run is available, and most episodes have a duplicate source or two to be found somewhere, though some episodes only have one, rather crappy, source. GT, the entire run is available from two sources, one is a bit mixed in recording quality but its digital ripping is good, the other is generally very good in recording quality, but its digital ripping used a rather low bitrate.

The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

Unfortunately there's no way of watching the Westwood dub legally. As for other methods, if you want to go that route, sure, if you have purchased an existing home release of DBZ then you've done your part to support the series.
I do hope if Wow TV gets Ocean Kai and it does well they will consider airing the older Ocean dubs too. A Canadian rerun of the Westwood dub would be interesting, and a chance for the Articifical human and early Cell arc episodes to finally air in Canada with the Canadian cast, but Blue Water DB and GT would probably be more likely as Wow mightn't see the point of acquiring both Z and Kai.

Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Most likely reairing, I'd say, would be if Kai goes well enough, they could reair Blue Water DB after Kai 1.0 to give Ocean some time to dub Kai TFC.
False. Two episodes have never been made available. One of them is #71. Can't remember the other one.JohnnyCashKami wrote:Dragon Ball is complete too, just not easy to obtain. I believe the most common source of the Blue Water episodes misnumbers things such that it doesn't look like #71 is missing, but it most certainly is.

I wasn't talking about the usual source which is mediocre at best but doable.Robo4900 wrote:False. Two episodes have never been made available. One of them is #71. Can't remember the other one.

Re: Is the Westwood dub obtainable anymore in any way?
Of course there are varying quality episodes available online but its becoming more difficult to find noways, many incomplete, mono, terrible frequencies littered with horrific artifacts etc. I'm fortunate enough to have at least DB and Z complete in it's entirety, Hi-Fi Stereo SP recorded VHS. I'm currently working on my own personal "remaster" if you will. With enough dedication, passion, and persistence like me you can achieve your desires. I'd talk more about the possibility of sharing but of course this forum restricts that.
If you have any Canadian dubbed recorded material and would like to preserve it, please PM me!
