I get that she shares a lot of traits with Goku, but putting her in the main character spot is a mistake. It works as a coda, but DB is Goku's story. Lastly, I don't think making another character the main character after an extended run is a good move, especially a brand new one. There isn't the emotional bond with the audience.

Q: Why was Gokuu turned into a child?
A: The scriptwriters felt that it would be too hard to do anything with the adult Gokuu after he defeated Majin Buu. Further, the show has always revolved around Gokuu's growing stronger. So, the writers decided to make him a child again, and take away his teleport ability. Even so, Gokuu is still Gokuu, and as the fight with Baby shows, he is still very strong.
Basically a more creative way to nerf Goku than to have him "holding back" or "letting his guard down" every fight like Super did

I personally disagree, I thought the intent was to try and capture the feeling of the old Dragon Ball hunts from the original series and lighten the mood a little bit.

I don't like using nerf in this context. Given how powerful he got, it's no surprise the writers would want to limit Goku's power. Also, it's a show about traversing space, so the ability to teleport would come in VERY handy. Putting a limit on him is a good idea.

And GT spectacularly failed at capturing the feeling of the old Dragon Ball hunts from the original series and trying to create a natural light mood, and as I pointed out before, despite Goku being "nerfed" by being turned into a child, he was still stronger than 99% of the fighters he came up against and that didn't stop him from choosing to fuck around in some battles.

Oh I agree, and setting it on a ship in space basically stuck them on a boat where they have to land and get off before they can do anything (kinda like the Orange Islands in Pokémon), which limits the "on the road" facet that defined the first three hunts. But, just because it didn't work doesn't mean that isn't why they did it.

His power didn't boil down to mere physical strength. Teleportation comes to mind. Piccolo's death is a result of Goku's limitations.

I also don't think Goku's power was taken down that much in the first place, and after a certain point it doesn't even really factor in anymore as he takes on characters like Rilldo who are stronger than Buu was.

That being said, I think a line saying that Goku "can't pinpoint the energy of the Black Star Balls like I can with the normal ones" would have been enough to make the plot work.

Goku could never find the DB's without the Dragon Radar.

Hold up, lemme go back...

-a few minutes go by-

Okay yep, you're totally right, Goku needed the Dragon Radar to get the Dragon Balls leading up to the Cell Games. For some reason I thought he was able to pinpoint their energy to just warp there with IT. So really there wasn't much reason for them to remove his ability to jump about in the first place!

The ability to teleport would've come in handy when they needed to return to Earth or when Goku needed to get out of Sugoroku's Space or get Pan in the desert.

Pan as a character that exist, is older then me, it's just her, bra, and Uub have been mishandled that nothing has been done with them. They should have their own stories, techniques, and transformations at this piont and be mainstays of dragon ball shows, movies and games, but they aren't.

Pan is older than you?

I'm not arguing that Pan shouldn't be an important part of the story, just not the main character. For one, when GT had started, she had been introduced only three weeks prior.

Uub I don't care about, and Bra seems like the most random character to place any importance on.

"Pan as a character that exist" like when she was created in the manga decades ago, not that the I'm younger then a 4 year old in end of z.

She, Uub, and bra have existed for decades. But aren't say playable characters in fighterz becuase they have been mishandled, have nothing to be based off of to do, and don't appear as major characters in canon material, they should have had many major roles in story arcs and fights. With there own techniques and transformations by now.

She's too young in Super, Super takes place before the end of Z thus precluding Uub's involvement, and Bra isn't a fighter. Why do you care about Bra so much?

I see them as a trio, a packaged deal.

The desert one you're totally right on, although they didn't seem to return to Earth with any urgency at the end, it felt like they had more than cleared the year-long time limit imposed on them at the start.

You are basing her not being a fighter based off her being 3 and not participating in a tournament in one chapter.

It's been 25 years whoever writes her when she is old enouph to speak can easily interpret her as a fighter

The slate is blank on these unused 25 year old characters when we go past then end of z in canon material.

Gohan was not a fighter when he was 3

Did Bra really serve any sort of purpose outside of the situational humor of Vegeta being wrapped around his pre-teen brat’s finger?

And it’s been forever since I’ve seen GT but I seem to remember Pan and Uub just not being particularly engaging characters. Uub was a mistake on Toriyama’s end and I don’t blame Toei for shafting him in GT
