So, this is rather unique. A while back, a friend of mine was messing around with sound mixing, and decided to create a massive dbz battle, using sounds from budokai 3. It was intended to be a battle royal, using nearly every character from budokai 3. He created it, and it turned out to be extremely cool. He decided to add on to it, putting in more sections, cutscenes, pain cries, etc. Keep in mind that this is all audio we're talking about, since both my friend and I are blind, video wouldn't do us any good nor could we do anything with it to begin with. Everything was progressing great, until oneday while trying to save the file, his comp froze, resulting in the loss of nearly everything that'd been done, save for the cutscenes, which were made separately and then pasted into the main product. As a result of this mishap, the project has pretty much been abandoned. I convinced pattrick to send me the cutscenes, and now I post them for you to enjoy, again reminding you that these are audio only. However, my friend is an amazing editor, in my opinion he really captured the essence of dbz.
The fights are as follows:
Goku vs. bardock.
fat buu vs. debora
kid goku vs. piccolo.
cell vs 16 (it originally was only meant to be cell vs 16, but ended up becoming the biggest cutscene with cell fighting 16, gohan, and goku.)
Hope you guys enjoy, I've sort of imagined this as the blind person's AMVS.

p.s, I still possess the original battle royal before pattrick began editing it, in other words, the first product. I'll upload it if you guys are interested.
Let me know what you think!

Just out of curiosity Stirlock, what kind of interface do you use to type? Do you have someone read and type for you online? And what kind of audio mixing station does your friend use? I edit audio and video for television and I can't imagine how hard it would be to edit audio without being able to see the waveform.
God, here goes take #3 with this post.

We use a screen reading program called jaws for windows, which reads text as speech, basically. www.freedomscientific.com is their website.
As far as audio editing, my friend used wavepad until the battle royal went bye bye, so now he uses goldwave, which is a very nice program, and very accessible.

Ok, so after wrestling with putfile a bit, I put these up. (I might put up a zipped version on my site...).
So most of these I did with sound recorder, as it's easier to get the pace right... Though the uploaded versions were vaguely post-production'd in... not sound recorder. Hm.
Goku Vs Vegeta - This one came before I got many DB SFX, and isn't all that special. Still, it's the first one that's not the crappiest thing in the universe, so... here we are. Not much to it... just a bunch of random fighting just for the heck of it.
Caej6Vs Goku - I seem to enjoy taking clips of myself in chibi form that sound vaguely actiony and putting them in a DB context. So here, we get a fight with Goku. This is actually the second such fight (the first one is just _that_ bad...), and at this point I had some DB SFX to work with. I started this one in a different program (as evidenced by the echo and stereo effects that may or may not be preserved on putfile), but eventually got tired of trying to figure out all of the timings and went back to sound recorder. I added some more effects afterward, which actually made the ending a lot less powerful, but egh... *shrug*.
Caej6 Vs Vegeta - This one was made before the fight with Goku, but... I forgot to upload them in order.
. Still, it somehow feels like it stands up a lot better when compared to the Goku Vs Vegeta clip... and I kinda tried to get character across rather than just have it a bunch of random fighting. Of course, the ending is still Marysue-ish...
.
Caej6 Vs Deepcaej - This one has nothing to do with DBZ characters at all, but I thought to do it when trying to put a storyline with the other clips. The style is supposed to vaguely resemble that of Sparking!, though it's a bit sluggish in a couple... "rushes". Umm... And it's shortish?
Goku saves the day? - I think this might be the best simply because it's ... folowable. And has something resembling dialogue, though it's just generic battle banter. A computerized voice declares itself "the strongest person on this and any planet". Twelve-year-old me decides that's an invitation for a fight. As we all know, Twelve year olds only win if they're featured in Shounen jump, so Goku has to come save the day.
Caej6 and Goten Vs Freeza - I finally went and pulled out some more voice samples from the SNES games. So I tried to make something of them, and this is the result. Again, Chibi Caejones tries to be cool and fight a galactic overlord. But this time we get a more saiyan-like person to jump in and help. Even though this wound up involving multiple characters... I don't think I did so well at making it clear that Goten was fighting.
. Not to mention there are some rather sloppy moments.
... Now I want to do more. Ur... that are ... better.
... This probably goes in the fanstuff thread.

How does goldwave differ from Wavepad? Just out of curiocity... *doesn't like not being able to ID3 tag without the full version*stirlock wrote:God, here goes take #3 with this post.

SSJ Helldog... see my sig.

... I... can't imagine editing sound via waveform, really.

Wavepad is very accessible, for the most part. Between it and tone generator, I've made a large bank of original sfx... and I think I figured out where a lot of DB sound effects came from (I managed to make Kento'un sfx at one point, but didn't save them).

That sounds like a cool program, Stirlock. It reminds me of a phone service my deaf friend used to call me before. She's a girl, but one night I got a call from a man:
"Hey dude, this is AJ."
"No it's not. AJ's a girl."
"Ha ha. I'm using a service where I type and this guy says what I tell you."
"Oh. Ok typer man, tell her I said 'that's neat'."
"Don't speak to me directly, sir."
It was fun.
Caejones, it depends what you're editing for, really. I have to take sound blurbs out of interviews, and occasionally remove stray sentences here and there. Also, normalizing audio and making sure it's broadcast safe would be nearly impossible without a visual readout because you'd never know how sensitive your speakers were.

Eh, right about normalization... I really suck at that. XD
Umm... Battle Royale~!
(... while we're here: what's the difference between ~ and ˜?)
[edit]
The voices on Goku Vs Piccolo sounded like they'd been slowed... and to some extent so did everything else? It was pretty awesome, but that was ... distracting...
Heh heh, epic what-if-like turn arounds FTW!
... This makes me want to know how to rip audio from PS2 games.
Thanks for posting!
