A step up from 0 to 0.1 is nothing to celebrate.
The before shots look nice. Fuck me.
You're right. The Level sets seem like the best of both worlds, not as grainy as the raws and not as brutally filtered as Funi's remasters tend to be.
This black brick seems like a weird compromise between the Blurays and the Levels. Like they wanna really easily cash in on the hardcore market but they don't wanna put in effort. If this is all we get, I mean it's okay, it's not blatantly bad like the Blurays, but they can do better.

DNR ladies and gents. Make sure to right click and view image in new tab. The poor background mountains.

This doesn't look too bad but it's probably because it's dark and it hides the atrocities the DNR has done to it. Looks the same as the other screenshots but somewhat decent.
That said, I'd not watch DBZ in a water color paint style.

Besides the DNR, I think they also zoomed in too far.

Yeeeah.... I think i'm just going to stick with my Dragon Boxes.
DB collection related goals as of now:
1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)
2.) Collect rest of manga
3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

The Blue Bricks of Dragon Ball were zoomed in but not this horribly.

Not to stray too far off topic but what was the main visual differences between the Japan Dragon Box and Funimation Dragon Box?
Why couldn’t Funimation just take their Dragon Box work and slap it on the Blu-rays?

The US Dragon Box Z was slightly brighten and there may be instances the image was soften.

My God, how those Levels look beautiful. FUNi made the 30th anniversary look like watercolors. It’s a shame they don’t preserve a show like it ought to be; instead we get this atrocious mess they call “perfection”. I mean, guys, just look at the detail lost in the 30th anniversary photo. Do NOT give FUNi your money. Have you really forgotten the main objective? We have ONE chance in history to make a stand. Don’t settle for this horseshit. Voice your opinion by not buying into this scam.

My YouTube
Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

Yeah, that's not the Blue Bricks. The colors in that image are a lot more saturated than the Blue Bricks were, it looks more like the Saga Sets to me. Here's a more accurate comparison:

Dragon Ball Arc Rankings:
1. Piccolo Daimaō
2. Saiyan
3. 22nd Budōkai
4. 23rd Budōkai
5. Hunt For the Dragon Balls
6. Zamasu
7. Moro
8. Tournament of Power
9. 21st Budōkai
10. Broly
11. Battle of Gods
12. Boo
13. U6 Tournament
14. Freeza
15. Red Ribbon Army
16. Artificial Humans/Cell
17.Golden Freeza

Zero context, zero setup. Its in NO way meant to be seen as a "beginning point" for ANYTHING other than the next story arc. It flows precisely and fluidly from where things left off in the aftermath of the 23rd Budokai and mostly hits the ground running from there without really stopping to look back. You're plopping someone into the middle of a book starting at chapter 195 out of 519 for absolutely no good goddamn reason, with very minimal opportunity to look back at much needed context and character/story growth.

Yeah, that's negligible compared to this new DBZ remaster.
Edit: Was referring the Piccolo Daimao shot. Guess you can ignore this.

With the Z season sets, the widescreen is always an issue. The blue bricks' zoom isn't noticeable in motion if you don't know what you're looking for.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

We're not talking about widescreen. We're talking about the new 30th remaster that's 4:3. And yes, it is notable. Or rather, your mileage may vary. But it is most certainly not good.
This new Z Blu-ray at least has SOME shots that are comparable or even have MORE image than the Dragon Box.
