Its definitely slowed a lot and crawling now. No question just popped in my mind. IF this set doesn't reach 3000 and doesn't get made, then they're essentially wasting their money on this remaster if they don't plan on using this footage again. Unless they are doing this for someone else? Do you think this will become the HD broadcast version or release for other countries (like Madman using it or it becomes a HD broadcast for Japan or South America)?

I seriously hope not, this looks like crap regardless it's in 4x3 AR. But it will hit 3000 and even if it goes really slowly, there's still 25 days left so it's gonna happen by the looks of it.

Guys, I think its pretty expected that we're going to hit 3000. Even if it took months, we'd still hit 3000 eventually.

Wait, they took the post down?
Nope, i clicked on the link there and the post was still up on my end.
Thanks everyone, retried with a VPN and saw the post. For anybody else that also can't access them normally, here are all of the comparison images:

I had a cool idea for VegettoEX and perhaps some popular DBZ youtubers. An exclusive interview or podcast. If he can track down all or most the people on the remaster team like Steve and such, and do an in-depth interview about remastering the Level sets and what when wrong and what the film elements were and if they worked on the 2014 sets and just get the word out that when FUNi puts the effort in and what a proper remaster looks like maybe it can get more people on our side? I mean this sets already better than the season blurays (better white balance and 4x3) it definitely needs some tweaking but even if it becomes level sets light, that would be fantastic!

I think while complaining has helped make FUNi more transparent, perhaps if we take those complaints and also do something constructive to show how much passion we now have for a level set style remaster.

Almost! Those are the low-rez versions. If you remove the bit of the image URL that determines the resolution, you get the full 1080-sized versions!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR8eAfJjNEw I agree with Ajax, until proper trailer will be released, you should not buy it, it will be sad if they gonna screw it up again, but if they do, it gonna show that Funimation/Toei really don't give a f.ck about qualtity product :(

Oh damn that looks godgeous.
On another note, something that i noticed with some of funi's raw scans is that the image is well focused on the right side but goes out of focus on the left. I dunno if thats Funi fucking up the transfer or Toei fucking up the printing.

Also here's that Gohan shot properly done

That's likely something to do with the transparent material on the cel itself. It'd be similar to chromatic aberration that you get with some camera lens and certain science fiction games like Mass Effect.

Open image in new tab
In the url once it's open, delete the resolution numbers, I think it's "-1024x576", then hit enter.

But the grain itself goes out of focus, not just the painting

In that case I'd say it's the physical deformation of the film cel, a sort of concave shape where the edges are closer to the scanning apparatus while the middle is further away (or vice-versa, it's the same effect). I know from comparing the OG Dragon Box to the Blue Bricks that the deformation (or lack there of if applicable) means that you can't 100% line up the two because things don't line up in different ways in different places.

Omg I can’t get over how overly red that Gohan picture is. Buying this set is such a gamble.

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

If we slam Funi's social media hard enough, and put enough emphasis on "Yes, we will preorder this in a heartbeat if you guys just gave us the raw scan, zoomed in to mask the edges, but unless you do that, we have no interest", then we have a chance.

Make it clear that if they do this right, they'll get your dollars. Do your best to make them believe that if they do that, they'll get the full 6000 preorders, and have more than enough demand to push for a second run of some kind using these hypothetical masters.

It's a one in a million shot, but we've got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.
