Just imagine "Tien-san". Hm, I don't think I could tolerate subs with those dub terms.SuperSaiyaManZ94 wrote: Sun Apr 14, 2019 10:36 pmYeah, same with Yamcha since it's about the same as Yamucha or Bulma with Buruma romanized differently. Now those other FUNimation invented ones you mention would be absolutely atrocious to see in the subs because they're not even remotely close to how the Japanese namings are supposed to be.Kuwabara wrote: Sun Apr 14, 2019 10:25 pmKrillin wouldn't be that bad, it's just a different romanization. Things like Tien Shinhan, Master Roshi, King Kai, Special Beam Cannon etc. would be totally fucking unacceptable.SuperSaiyaManZ94 wrote: Sun Apr 14, 2019 10:17 pmYeah, for instance like having Krillin in the subtitles instead of Kuririn or Tien Shinhan over Tenshinhan.![]()
I'm somewhat curious if FUNimation gets their hands on the TOEI HD DB & DBZ Movie Blu-rays to release but then they would have to use the TOEI English titles.
And it'd have such memorable titles such as: "Explosion of Dragon Punch" (M13), "The Strongest Guy in the World" (M2) and "Super Guy in the Galaxy" (M9). Cause, you know, everyone knows the movies by those titles!
Seriously now, who the hell at TOEI came up with these moronic English titles? Explosion of Dragon Punch?!
Movie 13 is generally translated as "Attack of the Dragon", FUNimation's title is "Wrath of the Dragon" and the Japanese one is, if I recall correctly, "If Goku Can't Then Who Will?!"
So where did TOEI pull "Explosion of Dragon Punch" from? Who knows.
