If the new db movie was CGI instead--
--do you think they would use Funi's VA's for the roles or go the route of almost every 3-D animated film and plug a bunch of Hollywood celebrities in their places?
As an example; I'm fairly certain for the TMNT movie they did use their current animated series VA's, correct? But would they do that for a theoretical Dragon Ball cgi film?

On hiatus.
As far as I know, they did use the original VA's in TMNT. Except for Splinter, because he died before the film was finsihed.
I think Funi would put in their VA's if they got enough money to pay them, because the fanbase would already be used to those voices.
Also, hollywood actors/actresses would also cost more money.

Mako died after he had fulfilled his roll as Splinter in the movie, so all his lines were used. But not a single voice in the movie was in the TV series, they were all new actors for the roles. As in, not a single actor from the TV series provided a voice for the movie, but Mako did die AFTER his lines were done.Big Momma wrote:As far as I know, they did use the original VA's in TMNT. On the topic of Mako, if you watch Avatar, I was completely blown away by the VA they brought in to replace him, he does a fantastic impression of his voice, I was expecting to be disappointed, and was completely blown away.KaiserNeko wrote: Mako died after he had fulfilled his roll as Splinter in the movie, so all his lines were used. As for the Funi cast doing a movie?, I think replacing them with anyone would be a good thing, they seem to be sick of voicing their characters, I mean Chris Sabat's Vegeta in the re-dub had sort of degenerated into what he does for Piccolo except with some phlegm in his throat.
If this were to happen I would prefer seeing some new blood (or the Japanese cast

I agree with you Rach and as great as that sounds, you have to remember that this is DragonBall in America. We would get fucked over.TripleRach wrote:If they did something like this, I would hope they used a really pro set of voice actors to do it, consisting of people like Tress MacNeille, Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche, Jim Cummings, Jeff Bennett, Billy West, etc... That would be just amazing.

Mako's replacement was actually picked and trained TO replace him. So it's not too surprising!Captain Awesome wrote:On the topic of Mako, if you watch Avatar, I was completely blown away by the VA they brought in to replace him, he does a fantastic impression of his voice, I was expecting to be disappointed, and was completely blown away.KaiserNeko wrote: Mako died after he had fulfilled his roll as Splinter in the movie, so all his lines were used. I'm also sick of Christ Sabat as both Piccolo and Vegeta, and Yamcha to a lesser extent. I never found him appropriate for any of those roles, which is sad because I'm loving him to death in so many others outside DBZ such as Zoro from One Piece and Major Armstrong from FMA. I also enjoy Sean Schemmel in other roles besides Son Goku, but find him lacking consistently and aggravatingly so for the character.
I'd far and away rather they cast more closely to the original actors if they made any animated media involving DragonBall but that will never happen. FUNimation has made it quite obvious they not only approve of their decisions they've made with their casting, they prefer it.

I was originally going to rattle off a list almost identical to thatTripleRach wrote:If they did something like this, I would hope they used a really pro set of voice actors to do it, consisting of people like Tress MacNeille, Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche, Jim Cummings, Jeff Bennett, Billy West, etc... I mean compare any one of those VA's to someone on the Funi cast, Chris Sabat does a thousand voices, but they all sound like they are coming from Chris Sabat, Billy West does a thousand voices, all of which sound completely different.

I'm still not completely sold on his Zoro voice, at points he seems a little too...wise?, but It's definitely one of his better character roles and Armstrong was just Piccolo with an accent..KaiserNeko wrote:

I think the Funi VA's are at a point where they are finally getting cast for characters they can somewhat do, rather than being taken off the street and having to spend 100 episodes voicing the character before they have it down somewhat.

His voice is to deep on the dub at first. But if you've seen the Movie 8 dub, then I'm sure you would think again. It's almost like a completely different voice. I think it's damn near perfect.Sun_Wukong wrote:Sabat's Zoro is way too damn deep. Steve Blum wouldve been betterCaptain Awesome wrote:
