Well it's finally here, both for DB and DBZ. Probably not what was expected, but then again looking at the Kenshin ones it's not that big of a surprise.

Nappa: Vegeta, what does the scouter say about Graphic's power level?
Vegeta: It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAND!
Goku: That's what you think, Captain Cocky!

Sorry, it has been posted before inthe VIZBig thread. But, thanks for tryin to get it to us.
IMO the Kenshin one looks great, these on the other hand... :/
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
It's not just dissapointing, it's pathetic.
People get paid for that rubbish.
Once I get my copies, I might make some cover slips just for the hell of it.

The lack of love for making an effort on the covers makes me sad.
Even if all they did was stick the regular covers for 1 and 17 on them the way DelRay did for giant versions of Tsubasa and XXXholic would make me happy.
On hiatus.

When will they realese the Dragon Ball Z Manga UNCUT. They realesed the original Dragonball, so what about DBZ? I bought some volums but they seem like there all edited. Well, at least the ones from Volumes 24-26, which is the Majin Buu saga. I would rather have UNCUT manga in english, because the manga is all about the talking. Andd when will thye realese the Kanzenbin? That looks so cool, I can't wait to buy it in english.

Kanzenban
And they wont, this release is obviously Viz's attempt at something similar, I would say that this is probably the orange brick of Dragonball manga, in the way that it's basically going to be the format used from now on for the series.
Not that I think these releases are bad (apart from the covers) if it's unedited and has colour chapters, count me in.

We can only hope, I canceled my preorder and decided to finish buying the remaining dvd's I need before I start splurging on the manga, because if these are edited, I might just go with the Kanzenban.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, but is it expensive to get all of the DB/DBZ manga? Quite frankly, I want to get it, but at the same time, I spent so much money on the series itself, that virtually has everything that the manga has (but not vice versa), that I don't think I'd be able to stand paying so much for the manga. And damn, are they STILL coming out with DB/Z manga? I would've thought they'd ended a long time ago. What is this, like their own re-release? Is Viz going to put black bars on the top and bottom of the pictures, use white out the lines, and call it the greatest collection ever? lol Please don't kill me, that was just a little joke.

Can somebody explain why these covers look bad? To me they look fine, I mean, I'm not just going to buy these things and stair at the cover until my eyes bleed. I'm going to read the pages, and complain about the translations instead.

Many people care more about what's on the outside of something rather than the inside. Hence, they literally judge a book by its cover.

I think it's the colors. They're really dull on one hand, and yet still bright enough to hurt your eyes. It's masterful really. So the Nimbus is supposed to be white huh?

The covers are mediocre, but whatever. For a book that's going to sit on my shelf spine out... the cover isn't important, so long as the content on the inside is good.
Though either way, I'm picking them up.

They were hideously slow with their release of the manga, but they finally relased the last volume in 2006. This is a re-release, with more chapters per volume, and color-pages re-inserted. (Wether they'll have ALL the color-pages like the Kanzenban did isn't quite certain though. Their re-release of Kenshin apparently only had the color-pages from chapter 1, and everything after that was in black and white, despite being colored in the original Shonen Jump-version in Japan.) They've also implied that they've fixed some of the translation-problems, and they might have removed the occasional censorship that was in the original release, but we're not quite sure about that yet.

I'd pick them up if they're uncensored and I can get them for a nice price. Personally, I'd rather if they were in black and white. Except for the cover art of course. I mean I have a Japanese version of one of the Cell mangas (starts off with Super Trunks vs Cell, and ends when everyone gets to the Cell Games tournament), and I think the animation is outstanding. I imagined it in color and it just would kill it. What really stands out is how amazing it looks, very plain, black ink, white pages. Looks phenomenal like that. If you add in color, especially color that is dull (which the manga seems to have to be honest), then it would ruin it.

They're not adding color. It's been there. We've just never had it here in the States.
