How does Frieza Survive So Much?
How does Frieza Survive So Much?
There is an inconsistency about Frieza that keeps bugging me. He appears to have a brain inside his head (he has a large skull), yet, he can somehow survive and think decently with over half of his head missing. In addition, I believe we see him drink at one point in the series, so he can obviously digest and therefore probably has lungs, intestines, a heart, etc. Yet, we see that he can survive with his guts hanging out and still be capable of fighting in such a condition. In addition, he was still "alive" when Trunks initially halved him. So, what gives? Does Frieza have internal organs? He can't regenerate, right?

You could see some guts hanging down in the manga.

Yeah, Freeza's entire species must be very durable. Look at Coola. He was blasted into the sun by Son Goku's VERY large energy wave (was that even a Kamehameha wave?) and his own Super Nova, and he was still alive(barely). But from what I can tell, King Cold had his heart blown out by Mirai Trunks, so maybe the heart is the Cold family's only weak spot? I think it's highly possible.

Possibly, though even Cold didn't die until Trunks blasted him the second time.Pain wrote:Yeah, Freeza's entire species must be very durable. Look at Coola. To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

So are you implying that they are some what "immortal"? Maybe they have bodies that don't stop functioning due to severe injury. So that might be the reason why Mirai Trunks sliced and diced Freeza before destroying him.Onikage725 wrote:Possibly, though even Cold didn't die until Trunks blasted him the second time.Pain wrote:Yeah, Freeza's entire species must be very durable. Well, not immortal. They obviously would still succumb to old age. Hence Freeza's purpose on Namek. But otherwise, probably yes. It would go a long way to explaining Cell. Take his Namekian DNA, allowing him to regenerate any injury so long as his brain and heart are intact. Now take Freeza's DNA and remove the dependence on either organ, and we have something who simply needed one nucleus of a specific cell in order to recover from any injury.

That's more of a general rule for all comics in general, really, especially in American comics where nobody ever dies without coming back years later at another writer's whim through some weird explanation.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:By the time Trunks halved him, he was more machine than man, twisted and evil.
Also, if you don't see either a corpse or evaporating body on-screen, the character comes back. I call this power of Freeza's "Being in a Shonen manga/anime".

American superhero comics that have been going for 30+ years, maybe. The big names are never gone forever. But it seems far more likely for a drastic death to occur in western comics than in Japanese comics.Dark Vegeta-Sama wrote:That's more of a general rule for all comics in general, really, especially in American comics where nobody ever dies without coming back years later at another writer's whim through some weird explanation.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:By the time Trunks halved him, he was more machine than man, twisted and evil.

But then, I'm a fan of slightly more independent but-not-quite names. You know, the "big independents", like Spawn.
