What if the anime didn't follow the manga

Only in the anime, because Toei wanted time for filler. In the manga, the matches all took place in rapid succession.

Kid Trunks, it's not a true ending shot unless Piccolo and Vegeta are either nowhere to be found or seen standing together in a corner with their arms folded.

The 10 year skip at the end of Z is complete unnecessary.

That episode would have been perfectly fine if the animation was more appealing.

Another thing - it's not like it's Goku's intention to be a 'dick' for those actions. I actually find it rather interesting how a lot of Saiyan traits/tendencies remained intact in him.

My best friend, my brother and I watched that movie together the first time any of us'd seen it. And after that last shot... hell, I had to put it in English for just that part, because I just knew there was no way in hell they could have resisted doing something stupid.

We probably watched it eight times in a row and couldn't stop laughing, it was just so fantastically braindead.

That woulda been an awesome way to end the series, no? Starts with Goku eating fish. Ends with everyone sharing giant Normal-Rockwell style dinner. With a giant monster fish being carried in instead. Can't you picture it?
