Going by art, colorized panels of Neko Majin Z, and especially BT3, golden/regular SSJ goes so well that gi in my opinion. Even Goku's current old outfit looks off due to part of it being Blue. I'll never understand why they dropped Goku and especially Vegeta's new outfits after U6. Agreed. DBS was too afraid to change anything about designs, not just outfits. While i'm not a big fan of Goku's outfit from RoF/U6 arcs, it's still better than wearing the same old outfit for nostalgia reasons. They didn't have that problem in GT where they gave Goku and Vegeta completely new outfits. I wonder if it was Toriyama's decision to bring back DBZ outfits or it came from Toyotaro or TOEI. I mean if you look at GT Goku or Vegeta you can tell that they are from GT, but DBS Goku and Vegeta doesn't look any different than they did in Z except for those two arcs where they had new outfits.Matches Malone wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2020 4:34 am Even Goku's current old outfit looks off due to part of it being Blue. Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

I have no doubts that it was from Toei. Toriyama wouldn't have bothered designing new outfits only to switch things back to normal later. I'm not sure about this, but I think he went as far as to say he took out the blue because of their new form. For all its flaws (and there many), I'll always give GT credit for trying to be its new thing and move the story forward...even if it fell flat on its face nearly every time. With how popular DB is now, I don't get why everyone involved is so afraid of trying new things with it.
