Gosh, I hate being the one to necropost, but I'm putting up a poll in the wake of Red Ribbon Son (Part 4) and it's open to the public. You don't even have to be caught up!

tl;dr version Dragon Ball: Red Ribbon Son is an AU fic based on the premise "What if Goku was found by the Red Ribbon Army?" The King Piccolo Saga just wrapped up and the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament is going to be a short preface to the greater Saiyan Saga, so I'm interested in opinions as to whom is going to be the child of Chi-Chi and Kakarot (not 'Goku' in this setting). The options are as follows:

1. Gohan: Same as in canon. The only problem is that Kakarot doesn't have a relationship with old Son Gohan, whom is still alive in this what-if setting. Chi-Chi has trained with him, though, and Gohan is the one whom helped Bulma on her initial Dragon Ball quest.

2. Coggo: The name I gave to Android 16's template, whom acted as Kakarot's handler and survived a fateful battle thanks to the Saiyan boy's intervention. That relationship didn't end well, considering Kakarot turned on his masters and still destroyed the RRA, but they were as close as brothers once upon a time. Going with this name, Kakarot and Chi-Chi's son will still be 'Gohan' in all but name only.

3. Gine: Here was a fun twist! When Kakarot had to go fight Fortuneteller Baba's five champions, the last one wasn't Grandpa Gohan (for obvious reasons), it was the ghost of his mother, Gine. She was probably one of the few Saiyans not immediately sent to Hell! Anyway, going with this name means Kakarot and Chi-Chi have a daughter, whom will still effectively be 'Gohan' aside from her gender.

(Welp, I literally JUST found out while typing this post that Gero's son was given an official name in the DBZ: Kakarot art book: Gebo! I'll be updating my story to reflect that . . . although I think I prefer my fanon name, lol )

So I’m writing my own 28th World Tournament (End of Z) fic but if Goku and Uub never left. It ignores all DBS stuff and is Goten x Marron centered. (Marron is aged up to be only a year younger than Goten in my universe)

I plan to have some different characters participate than canon but I’m struggling on who to have for the full 16 fighters.

So far I have, Goku, Goten, Trunks, Pan, Wild Tiger, Tien, 17, Vegeta, Piccolo, Otokosuki, and Knock.

Any suggestions? Would really be appreciated!!

So I’m writing my own 28th World Tournament (End of Z) fic but if Goku and Uub never left. It ignores all DBS stuff and is Goten x Marron centered. (Marron is aged up to be only a year younger than Goten in my universe)

I plan to have some different characters participate than canon but I’m struggling on who to have for the full 16 fighters.

Marron is only 4 years younger than Goten. Why not move the story to a 29th/30th World Martial Arts Tournament instead? It could be 5/6 years later so that Marron's a major if that's an issue. Moving it like that also gives you some space to work in backstories and such too if you want to. For example, it allows you to let Goku leave with Uub like in canon, but to later complete his training and return, thus "resetting" things a little. Also, Goten x Marron is one of the very few shippings I support.

Yeah I know she’s only a few years younger, so it wouldn’t really be a big deal in a few years, but I’ve been writing her as a little older than canon for a few years now and I’m too stubborn to change now.

I guess the 29th instead, but I want to tie it in with my own universe for the 28th.

And I’m glad! It’s a rare pair I’m pretty much the only one who does stuff for it lol

Well I had a different idea of what to do in which basically left over tech would sort of do the corrupting. Don't want to give to much away at the moment in case that's the plot, do kinda hope people check it out

A few fanfics I've been enjoying.

Lord of the Desert: Nice (mostly) canon compliant Yamcha centered fanfiction. Follows the events of the Dragon Ball from Yamcha's perspective. The writing style may not be everyone's cup of tea but I loved it.

Dragon Ball Ki: Newer fanfic. Writing is a little rough in places but overall the creator is making an honest go at keeping everyone in character. Not sure how canon compliant the fanfic will ultimately be.

More of the Same: I'm sure lots of people have already seen this one but I only found it a couple months ago. Yamcha makes an errant wish to Shenron and finds himself in the body of his sixteen year old self. My favorite thing about this fic is the sense of humor. I think a lot of fanfic writers end up making the series more grim than it needs to be so it's incredibly refreshing to find a series that maintains a sense of levity through out.

I would prefer to keep the thread worksafe, yeah. I've seen enough NSFW fan fiction to know that that's not a can of worms I'd like to open here. Example reaction: She's a child! And that's her grandfather! What are you doing!?

Anyway, I guess I can write a little about my own stuff for once. If you've noticed my signature lately (which I'd be very surprised if anyone did), you'll have seen that the partial rewrite I've been working on is done now! I finally managed to sit my lazy butt down and write again, so I knocked out 3 brand new chapters in 3 days, and then updated old content to finish another 3. So that's the first 20 chapters re-finished, and I'm just brushing up the rest now. After literally years I'll finally be back to where I'm supposed to be in my story... I will be going back to writing JoJo after that, though, before I continue.

I made a fan manga/comic using CaC's and original characters from the series in Xenoverse 2. Using photo mode I've taken a ton of shots and put it all together. It's got a story, but I haven't really thought it through that much since I did it for fun mostly. But I might consider putting some more effort into it, especially story wise.

The story follows a Saiyan known as Excalibur, Ex for short. It's based around Time Patrollers (just like in the game) however with the use of photo mode I can actually add more value to the characters. Since they are pretty much just silent souls you use to get through whatever quests you have to do in the story. Even though there are some limitations to what the photo mode offers in what I wish it contained, I still did my best.

There are a ton of Time Patrollers squads with multiple members who report to what would be the 'Time Patrollers Headquarters' and get sent out to take care of any disruptions that were made in history and what not. However in here the twist is that some characters who could be evil, could be good now instead, and the other way around.

First-time poster, lurked around here for about half a year. I have two fics in the work that I'd like to share for anyone interested.

The first is called Carrots and Cauliflowers. If the title isn't clear, it's a Goku-x-Caulifla ship, but the twist is that I'm starting it in OG Dragon Ball. I am making heavy use of the butterfly of Chaos Theory in this one, as well as giving a certain sneezing character more limelight.

I want to get thoughts on a more in depth Dragonball isekai than 'That Time I got Reincarnated as Yamcha' (will use spoiler tags for the ones who haven't read it)

Currently watching the excellent "My Next Life as a Villainess" and I'm wondering what if a full on Isekai series was did.

Well lets say that it was going to be another Yamcha isekai, though it really could be anyone

1)

While funny, I don't think the whole isekai story as a contest between Beerus and Champa should be used in repeat.

2) It should start at the beginning of a character's life or at least, years in story before they're introduced in the story. That would mean filling in the details Toriyama didn't, but hey, fanfiction.

3) The Reincarnated Hero is stronger/smarter/etc than their counterpart: Though In the Dragonball Isekai

Yamcha-Reincarnated used his knowledge of Namek to keep everyone alive,

I feel like a good fanfiction could find stuff on Earth to reach the levels needed to keep up that was really only touched on. Just off the top of my head, becoming an Android before the Android saga

4) A full series from start to finish: 'That Time I got Reincarnated as Yamcha' only hit 3 separate points in the series. Being a fanfiction, ideally a full on Isekai would do this part full on

5) Twists: The two twists in the Dragonball Isekai was good, but to keep things fresh, what if instead of the events of the manga playing out, like the Reincarnation expects, one of the movies play out instead? Or even the events of the manga play out differently beyond the fact the Reincarnation is doing stuff?

Any other thoughts or ideas on this one?

All of this sounds perfectly doable to me, it's just a matter of execution. Maybe picking Yamcha isn't the best choice precisely because Isekai Yamcha already exists, but it's not like you're not allowed to just make "Shin Isekai Yamcha" as an alternate, perhaps more "serious", take on the same basic premise.
I'm personally not an expert on isekai stories, so I'm not able to come with a whole lot of concrete ideas, sorry to say.

Well, after way, way, way too long, I've finally made it to my fifth story arc. Maybe I'll get this thing done at some point after all... I think I've talked about this arc before in this thread, like way back, so my speed has been a bit really low, but I'm motivated to finally get started on this one. Goku and Vegeta finally return from their training trip, Trunks gets married, the journey to the top of the god hierarchy begins... I hope it'll be as fun for people to read when the time comes as it'll be for me to write!
