Well. If they go past the End of Z, it's no longer Dragon Ball Super. They were pretty clear from the start that Dragon Ball Super was going to be between Buu and Uub.GodVegetto91 wrote: Sun Jul 12, 2020 4:56 pm It should just be called Dragon Ball Super. And that’s final. Any change in name is just plain stupid and 100% unnecessary!

Dragon Ball SUV
Dragon Ball 4x4 (if 4-star ball is shuushinchuu, fans cal call it Dragon Ball Shu-shu)

Re: The name of DBS Sequel
Well, if we're all just spitballing, then how about... Dragon Ball Superstar? It keeps "Dragon Ball Super" while adding something new to it, and "superstar" is a nice flashy word, and the Dragon Balls have stars on them... We could abbreviate it as DBSS, with SS also referencing Super Saiyan.
Separately, the third season of the Sailor Moon anime (not Crystal) is called Sailor Moon S, where the S stands for Super. Dragon Ball Super is also the third DB show as far as the in-universe timeline is concerned (even if you count it, GT happens later). So since it's already similar, just loosely follow Sailor Moon's season names. The fourth season of Sailor Moon is called Sailor Moon SuperS the S allegedly doesn't stand for anything here, it's just "supers", and so the fourth DB show should be something along the lines of "Dragon Ball SuperS"... and just like that we're back at Dragon Ball SuperZ again! It's got a little bit of gravity, this name.
I do still think the best course of action would be to not change the name, though, I've gotta say.

No they couldn’t because whoever came up with Dragon Ball AF never owned legal rights to Dragon Ball and therefore is actually in the wrong. In fact shrewd artists used DBAF for their fan mangas to avoid possible legal issues.Matches Malone wrote: Tue Jul 14, 2020 3:20 pmCould they do that legally ? DB AF wasn't Toyble's fan-manga? if so, it would be nice to have the official AF version.

Re: The name of DBS Sequel
They would absolutely be within their legal rights to use the name "AF" if they really wanted to. The only thing I know of that fan creators can stake claims to is if their visual work is directly used without their permission, like with that time Sumo Digital accidentally put a fanart of Amy in Sonic & All-Stars Racing (though I think they only removed it out of polite courtesy -- they probably could have kept it in if they went full lawyer mode). Otherwise fan creators know going in that they have no legal stake over anything they produce.
Realistically though, it would just result in brand confusion and you know how Japanese companies hate having their babies associated with unofficial products. You know the saying, "there's only one thing scarier than Godzilla -- his lawyers". There's already enough ambiguation between all the fake rumours and real fanfic doujinshi named Dragon Ball AF, adding an official Dragon Ball sequel to all that would only make things worse. I think it's best that the whole "AF multiverse", with Xicor and Super Saiyan 5, is left in the past.

Re: The name of DBS Sequel
People associate Toyble with AF as he probably did the most complete work based on this fan rumour/fiction. But this whole idea is older, almost after the GT ended as a result of it’s ambiguous ending and people thinking that Goku went to train to some new realm with Shenron (basically we actually got continuation like that with Beerus and Super).
There is an article on DBAF I think, on Kanzenshuu. But it basically started before Toyble with fanarts and ideas like SSJ4 Gohan and Vegeta in armor similar to his father from “Studio Tomita” and the legendary art of SSJ5 which was actually coined by some american fan-artist, if I remember it right?
We believed that there is really a sequel in the works as kids, because Dragon Ball was super popular... I was really surprised later that there is some Japanese fan artist who actually made a manga about it as I thought that DBAF was just some rumor fluke and fans wishes at point of time, just like Dragon Ball Hoshi or Dragon Ball Super 2.

Yeah. It was like a self-fulfilling prophecy -- a bunch of bored fans make up a rumoured GT sequel and some bad fanart to go along with it, drumming up intrigue, then it spreads around and people start publishing full manga to make the rumour real.MCDaveG wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 2:23 am People associate Toyble with AF as he probably did the most complete work based on this fan rumour/fiction. I never considered that parallel between Goku going off with Shenron in GT and going off with Beerus and Whis in Super. Pretty cool. There's something ethereal about Goku flying off with Shenron, in a way that Dragon Ball never really delves into -- we're so used to gods living on fairly ordinary-looking planets and the afterlife being this plain, physical place that characters can pop in and out of, that the idea of this unseen "Dragon Realm" or whatever feels way more intriguing and spiritual.

Re: The name of DBS Sequel
Yeah, I meant like spiritualy, fans dreamed about Goku going to further realms of being and power, unless you accept that theory about Goku being dead and Shenron transporting his spirit somewhere... we kinda got that starting with battle of gods, even hogher hiearchy of gods past the Z limits, new worlds and gods trough multiverse, Goku attaining two more super saiyan forms... that’s why even with the flaws, I consider for myself that Super is the great sequel I was waiting for... as it continues with Z story and aesthetic without going weird and full on after everything ala Saint Seiya Omega and still bringing the new stuff. Super is basically more grounded AF.LoganForkHands73 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 6:40 amYeah. Re: The name of DBS Sequel
If they turn the Moro arc into an anime it wouldn't be a sequel, it would just be new episodes of Dragon Ball Super, so I don't see any reason to change the name. But if they make a series that takes place after Super ends, I'm hoping to see Dragon Ball: Galactic Patrol, where the Z fighters join the GP with Merus who has been turned into a mortal as punishment for getting involved with the fight against Moro.
Re: The name of DBS Sequel
I hope they either stick with Super or call it something like Super: Part 2. It'll closely follow the Super manga so I don't see a reason to change the name unless they think the casual audience won't see it as a new thing.

Re: The name of DBS Sequel
That is a question... will it follow the manga? That is something we don't know yet. Who knows how important the manga story is versus, make some filler story so we can continue release the manga before the show resumes someday.DBPirate wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:24 pm I hope they either stick with Super or call it something like Super: Part 2. I wonder... Will the Broly get adapted or is it just a canon sidestory?
I am really curious about the future Dragon Ball adaptations.
But not being creative or fun now, I hope the Super sticks, otherwise we will have to many brands and unless you have different timelines or worlds like in Gundam, I am not fn of excessive brand branching.

I would be surprised if they didn't adapt the Moro arc. Re: The name of DBS Sequel
That is something I really can’t get over... I was already angry about TOEI butchering the Saint Seiya franchise even more that it is OAV being released on expensive blu-rays, but Dragon Ball having such badly done sequel that gets good visually after the first 100 episodes. It still pains me as a fan.FortuneSSJ wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2020 5:07 pm Super Dragon Ball
