But for Merus to come back, he'd have to be revived with the Super Dragon Balls(I think, that's probably the only thing powerful enough to revive an angel from erasure).Grand Marshal 1 wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 12:02 pm Why do I expect for some kind of a twist?
Like, the GP most certainly is aware of Merus' connection to the mortals and his personal beef with Moro. Perhaps this is the result of Merus failing his trials as an Angel Trainee?
I feel like this isn't all we'll see from Merus.Spoiler:

As a general piece of advice, remember that Ryokutya leaks have been inaccurate on numerous occasions and should always be taken with a grain of salt. (I feel like this already gets said almost every month.) In this case, they're very vague; there's an almost complete lack of detail.

All gods can summon Super Shenron because they all know divine language.
Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

Agree on all points (Merus' fate had been mentioned numerous times thru foreshadow) I wonder whatever abilities or "Powers" Merus displays will be part of Ultra Instinct Goku's ArsenalAlruneia wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 12:24 pm As a general piece of advice, remember that Ryokutya leaks have been inaccurate on numerous occasions and should always be taken with a grain of salt. That's an interesting thought - how would you (and others, naturally) feel if the next arc were Goku and co. attempting to get the Super Dragon Balls in order to restore Merus (and taking the risk of incurring the wrath of Heaven in the process)? The Super Dragon Balls haven't shown up in this arc in any way yet, which is kind of new, and it would require getting in to Universe 6 to collect at least some of them, which a lot of people have wanted to see...Femme Fatale Kikaza wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 12:06 pm But for Merus to come back, he'd have to be revived with the Super Dragon Balls(I think, that's probably the only thing powerful enough to revive an angel from erasure).

I think he's being killed off because no one has any future roles for him, so I don't think he's likely to come back, at least not right away.Magnificent Ponta wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 3:39 pmHow would you (and others, naturally) feel if the next arc were Goku and co. attempting to get the Super Dragon Balls in order to restore Merus (and taking the risk of incurring the wrath of Heaven in the process)?

Now I see why Beerus wasn't written to intervene. Merus was specifically written for this arc to give Goku his power-up and then be killed off, when this could've ended in a different, and better (in my opinion) way.

They really could've wrote this better honestly. Even if I didn't like Merus, it just feels overly forced.experted_luke wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 3:46 pm Now I see why Beerus wasn't written to intervene. Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I have been saying that this would have happened for months. It was blatantly foreshadowed. No surprise at all, there, just that I thought it wouldn’t have happened this soon as I was expecting a dragged on finale like we got for Future Trunks arc, especially for this arc which is the slowest ever.
I doubt Merus will be revived anytime soon, but now that Goku will seemingly master UI once and for good then maybe, just maybe, we could finally get some sort of building up to a mortal rebellion, for mortals to gain their freedom back and possibly to free up the Angels too, as it seems like they are enslaved by a system which most likely only the Grand Priest enforces.
Considering how the Grand Priest is the strongest being alive, it’s possible that he will be the final foe of Super somehow. His simple design would be quite fitting, like Freeza’s and Kid Buu’s did back then.
I could also see this arc ending with a loophole that allows Merus to be revived but only as a mortal and with his power permanently suppressed.

I would feel even more disappointed if this next saga (or any other, for that matter) takes place "right after" the Moro saga. That would mean a one-year timeskip (since Super Dragon Balls requires a year to recharge, and they were last used in the Universe Survival saga, hence why they haven't shown up yet). We would be in AGE 781 and Bulma's line would be completely contradicted, with no possibility of it being solved in any way. Not only because of that, but because, either way, we should move on from this time period, I think there's enough of stories set right there.Magnificent Ponta wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 3:39 pmhow would you (and others, naturally) feel if the next arc were Goku and co. attempting to get the Super Dragon Balls in order to restore Merus (...) But if you suggest this saga taking place four years from now, then alright.

Why are people still speculating if the Grand Priest will become a villain in the future? If the writers wanted him to be evil, they would have made him the villain of the ToP arc, since there were many scenes in which he acted in an ominous and downright creepy way (like when he smiled when the losing universes were erased).

How would you even fight someone like the Grand Priest anyway? He'd probably just kill you instantly. He probably has all sorts of abilities we haven't seen him use to kill anyone within the span of two seconds. He's one of the strongest fighters in the multiverse(likely the strongest fighter) fighting him would require an absurd amount of plot power and some jumps in logic just to make sure everybody isn't instantly curb-stomped.SupremeKai25 wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 5:46 pm Why are people still speculating the Grand Priest will become a villain in the future? I agree. He's extremely powerful, if I'm not mistaken in the ToP manga he even solo'd all 12 Destroyers using only his finger. He's amongst the five strongest fighters in the entire multiverse. He's not written to be defeatable. Not when he can do things like this:Femme Fatale Kikaza wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 5:49 pmHow would you even fight someone like the Grand Priest anyway? Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
There’s some real assumptions here being made saying the Grand Priest is somehow responsible for these rules. I seriously doubt it since he himself has to obey these same laws aswell most likely.
The way I took it is that when an Angel “breaks the code” no external being erases them (since they can’t be erased, they have absolute immortality), they simply self destruct... It’s part of their internal mathematical coding. It’s their nature! It’s reason itself that made it to be this way!
It basically goes something like this:
As an Angel, you are allowed to be all-powerful, all-skilled, all knowledgeable, etc etc. But on the other hand, there’s a great price to pay for it. You can’t use those powers on anyone else, otherwise you’ll simply disappear. That’s all about fairness. And mathematical balance.
I.e. You’re allowed to have all these literal otherworldly powers since you can’t use them anyways!

Because lets face it, if the Angels were all absolutely evil and this code didn’t exist, all other races throughout the Multiverse would be living in HELL throughout all eternity.
