Ok so lets say it does hit him, do you really think it would kill him? When Gogeta fought Janemba he completely outclassed him so I don't think that is a reliable point of reference for this attack. The attack would probably be far less effective against an opponent on his tier of power.

But what you have to understand is that Gogeta is basically detonating a bomb that contains MASSIVE amounts of energy from within you. It explodes from the inside of your body, and thus blows you to bits. If it was a normal explosion, he'd brush it off quickly, but an internal explosion will blow up all of his bones, organs, and everything else.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

It didn't work when Buu tried that.

Except it was fucking obvious what was going on. Vegetto obviously knew what Buu was trying to do, so he kust got him out when he had the chance. However, the with the Soul Punisher, he doesn't even know that he even has a "bomb" inside of him, and then it explodes out of nowhere.

I think we're both missing the bigger picture here. I seriously doubt that Vegetto would underestimate Gogeta if they were to fight. This being said, Vegetto would be extremely careful about not letting Gogeta get a chance to pull off this kind of attack.

Yeah, but he just wouldn't know what would happen. Gogeta would move his arm, and then Vegetto would just explode at anytime Gogeta chooses.

It could work the other way around as well.

Look at it this way, maybe the time limit placed on the Metamorphian Fusion is a trade-off for power. This means that fusion through the Fusion Dance would be MORE powerful than the Potara Fusion. This makes sense to me. Since the Potara Fusion is permanent, why would it be more powerful??

There is also the argument, however, that since the Potara fusion IS permanent, then it must be more powerful. It is a compromise: you can become more powerful at the cost of being permanently fused.

I think I would choose the first scenario since Potaras seem to be in abundance and you can fuse with ANYONE no matter what size/power level they are. Thus, Metamorphian Fusion must be more powerful since both users must synchronize their power levels and be similar in size. The Fusion Dance also takes practice, because if done wrong you can screw yourself over and fuse into a demented, weaker form.

I can tell you right now that that is definitely not true.

It is a matter of opinion since there is no hard evidence for any of this, thus we are only speculating. It is neither true nor false.

You can't make a statement like that without any proof whatsoever.

Everyone is just speculating, including yourself.

I didn't give any proof or reasons because it has already been covered earlier in the post.

No, it hasn't, someone gave their thoughts on the matter, which is not the same as evidence that supports a claim.

Thats like saying,

"Did you know there's really an eighth dragonball?"

"No, I'm pretty sure there isn't"

"There is!, someone on a message board said so earlier!, that proves it!"

Thats actually completely different, nothing so outlandish has been said here and I'm only saying that the time constraint on the Fusion dance isn't put in place as some kind of power boost, it's simply an inferior fusion.

I wish we could have actually seen Gogeta and Vegetto fight each other somehow, so this back-and-forth silliness would end.

Any attempt to compare the two can only thrive on pure speculation. For all intents and purposes, they SHOULD be pretty much the same in power, since they're the same two people being combined.

There are other creative points you might be able to think up like Yi Xing Long did (both of which were pretty clever), and of course things like time limits might factor in to who would win a fight, though not necessarily which was actually stronger. Gogeta losing because his Fusion time ran out wouldn't really be any different than Goku losing to Majin Vegeta because he was an idiot and let Vegeta trick him.

But again, it's all speculation. Since there never was or is, and probably never will be, any solid way to compare the two, we'll never know for sure.

He does have good ideas on how the Metamor fusion could be stronger, but that's just the thing: they are ideas. We actually have hard evidence of Elder Kaio saying that the Potara fusion is stronger.

And if the 30 minute time limit is the cost of extra strength, why does the time decrease when turning SSJ or SSJ4 or whatever? Unless that just proved the opposite...
Wow, unreal, my gosh....This is amazing! I feel incredible! Yes Yes Yes Yes! I can win, I feel great, I can do this eyah!

Now that I've actually found the quote I've changed my position on the subject.

Elder Kai said "It [Potara] is even better than fusion." Judging from this sentence it is unclear if he meant Potara fusions are stronger, or if they're just better because there's no risk of making a mistake in the dance and there's no time limit. However, things don't end here.

Kibito-Kai: "He's strong [refering to Vegito]! Buu can't do a thing to him! I didn't know the Potara would make them this strong."
Old Kai: "Dope, they're powerful because they fused, and they're two of the strongest fighters in the Universe! And since they're rivals, they're even stronger!"

I think it's quite obvious Old Kai said Vegito is not strong because he is the result of a Potara fusion, simply that he is strong because he is the result of a fusion. And a fusion between two rivals (again he does not refer to Potara exclusively), which makes them even stronger.

Exactly. The closest we'll ever be able to get, in all likelihood, would be having them duke it out in one of the videogames. And even with that, it's still not as good of a measuring stick.

So, unfortunately, we're stuck with this kind of stuff here.
