Recently, I made a post about my attempts to improve screenshots from the infamous Orange Bricks. Thanks to Funimation's website, we have access to some screenshots directly from the original film master. I'd like to show you my remaster of one of these screenshots, and I'd like to see yours as well. Below the images, you'll find a link to the original image in all its unaltered glory (plus others, if you're interested).

I can see why it'd be a difficult task to remaster a series on the level of the level sets (hah). Being that you'd need to do what you did for every single frame, and all while scaling it to 1080p or more.
But if a single man can make a single frame look amazing, a company can make 291 episodes of frames look the same.

I feel like this isn’t said enough, but the tools a fan would use to “remaster” or otherwise touch up a single frame from film as a single image are not the tools that you could would or should use professionally when remastering 24 frames per second (obviously “fewer frames” due to the nature of anime production but the point remains).
It’s a fun exercise, but it’s not even remotely equivalent to the real thing, and that’s without taking other considerations into... well... consideration.

Yeah I would imagine, as for example the studio who did the Level Set remaster do that for a living, and thus have expensive equipment to get the job done.
But the problem is for me is a frame from a fan, should look not better as one by a studio like Funimation. Where here its the opposite nowadays (Like the 30th Anniversary footage).

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Definitely. Doing what I did for every frame of 291 episodes would take more time, resources, etc. than running it through a program. Still, I think the results are worth it. A lot of fans would rush out to buy a remaster with more care, and Funimation could resell that remaster for years to come.
Thank you for the kind words.

My problem is that Funimation proved in 2011 that they can do it. The only reason why the Level Sets failed was because of when they were released. After the new steelbooks (which make the 30th anniversary remaster available in places like Canada, etc.) run their course, a lot of people would love a proper remaster. With the amount of people who leave objects in front of their TV screen, I don't believe the series needs to be cropped and smeared to hell and back to sell to the average consumer. People just want to watch a good show.
It would take a lot of time, resources, etc., but it's worth it.

Long post so I'm putting the rest of the images in spoiler. Don't use the raws in there cause imgur is being funny and compressing everything to jpg.
I enjoy tinkering with video and audio.

The shading on his armor is completely gone and whatever blurring you did destroyed the lines on his shoulder plates, especially on his left shoulder (right side of the image)
