Still no trailers or promos for these sets and they're going to be released on Tuesday. Funimation is probably scared of the backlash that they're going to get from the fanbase about this
Have they released ads for their cowboy bebop steelbook? are there any others?

Well, I got mine and can officially confirm that these are the Black Brick disks repackaged, right down to the title card font and (I'm 99% sure) menus. Packaging is nice though: no overlapping disks, they put a tray in the middle to hold disks 2 and 3, and the cover art is holographic. Here's pictures:

They're not cropped, I was referencing the 30th Anniversary Set, not the Season Blu-Rays.

The packaging looks dope. Hows the picture quality? Is it the same as the 2013 Blu-Rays?

Looks fine on my 4K TV. It's clearly been DNR'd, but at least for episode 1, which is all I had time to watch, it's perfectly fine. Though it still has the fake grain from the 30th Anniversary set, which I find easy enough to ignore.

Did they fix the zoom in issue in that episode ?

I don't have any way to compare, but seeing as the contents of the disc appear unchanged compared to the 30th Anniversary set, probably not. It didn't appear apparent with no comparison though.

they did not. these are just the 30th a masters, but with a lower bitrate.

Interesting is there any noticeable difference? These are an option to replace any of my discs if something happens to them so I want make sure.

Halfway through season 1. It's so refreshing viewing the series in 4:3 again after the last decade or so watching it in 16:9.

Why are people so positive on these here after trashing the 30th set? This is the same thing...
DB, Z, and GT subbed are my "canon".
SSJ4 > Any transformation in Super.

I think at this point fans will take anything if it's 4:3. At least we're headed in the right direction.

i'll accept any 4:3 set because it has been about 15 years
100% agree, that's why I'm glad they're selling. It's funny how there have only been two 16x9 releases (not counting Buu kai) and yet they've dominated the market.

The Black Bricks were VERY over-priced, an extremely limited release, came with a statue that just changed out Goku's face and arm, and were ostensibly made to celebrate the 30th birthday of Z yet still contained a lot of Funimation's BS practices. Not to mention packaging that can seriously damage the discs. It was the contradiction of it being touted as a Super Ultimate Anniversary Release, yet it was Just Another Funi Z Release with Gold Foil packaging.
The Steelbooks meanwhile are only slightly more expensive than the Blu-Ray Seasons yet are FAR more accessible than the Black Bricks. I can actually recommend this release to people based on the 4:3 and availability alone.

I'm not surprised by this. For the longest time Dragon Box 2 was the only way English-speaking territories could get those early Namek episodes uncut and in 4:3, hence it's high price point compared to the other boxes. Glad now there's finally another option.

And the 30th anniversary set treated 4:3 as if it was this premium thing, at least now the aspect ratio is being standardized and (hopefully) it will just be seen as how the show should be presented for future releases.
