What kind of impact do you think Vegeta defeat at the hand of Perfect Cell have on his character.

At first, not much. While preparing for the Cell Games, Vegeta still seemed convinced he would be the one to destroy Cell.

But during Goku's fight with Cell, Vegeta suddenly admits that Goku is beyond him. Sooo... something changed. Maybe it was simply seeing Goku in action again (who had been out of commission for a while). After that, Vegeta of course shows grief over Trunks' death, and later apologizes to Gohan. So again, something changed. I wouldn't say Cell impacted Vegeta in any significant way though, but Goku, Trunks and Gohan definitely did.
