Should Vegeta eventually develop into calling Kakarot Goku?
I’ve seen a few fanfics and fan mangas go in this direction and I am wondering what you guys think. Basically should Vegeta eventually start saying Goku?

I like it as a gag the idea that Vegeta calling him Goku instead kinda throws Goku himself off-balance (startles), but I don't think there's any need for it. Bulma still calls him Son-kun instead of Goku and she's been friends with him the longest.
On hiatus.

Nah. In fact, the opposite seems to have happened. While it bothered Goku at first when he was called Kakarot by Raditz and Vegeta, I think he likes being called by his Saiyan name now. Goku embraced his Saiyan heritage way back during the Namek saga. Now he accepts the duality of his nature, as a Saiyan raised on Earth. He did, after all, ask Broly to call him Kakarot.
Vegeta calls Goku by his Saiyan name because he doesn't want Goku to forget his Saiyan pride. It reminds Goku of where he came from. Without that, he'd just be an Earthling who can change colors.

Vegeta is a Saiyan, and will address Goku by his Saiyan title Kakarot, for now and always.

In a story, little elements like this are meant to do one of two things:
1) Change, to put the cherry on the transformation of a character or a situation
2) Remain, to emphasize resistance and triumph over changing conditions
As it pertains to Vegeta, who has undergone a transformation but is built on his stubbornness, he sits in an unnamed middle stipulation - "it remains because it's cool I guess?"

I'd love to see a scene of Goku and Vegeta fighting fiercely, then all of the sudden Vegeta shouts "GOKU" which causes Goku to freeze like "WHAT did this man just say?" And then Vegeta sucker punches him XDChuquita wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 2:50 am I like it as a gag the idea that Vegeta calling him Goku instead kinda throws Goku himself off-balance (startles), but I don't think there's any need for it. Not casually, as a part of his own idiolect, but perhaps used sparingly in order to achieve a certain thematic purpose. For example, Vegeta in Dragon Ball Multiverse refers to Goku as "Son Goku" in a dramatic scene, when addressing the difference between his comrade and the alternate universe, evil Kakarotto. Essentially, Vegeta may call Goku by his Earth name if he's making some sort of point about Goku's unique upbringing and contrast to his Saiyan roots to a friend or a foe, but I'd say it would feel off putting if he stopped addressing him directly by "Kakarotto."
