yeah Funi seem to export all their products a little early before the actual release date: Shin chan, Season 5 , even though I haven't seen anyone with the Double feature and as one someone said One Piece.

I've always gotten my Dragonball Z Seasons at least a week ahead of the release date, My Season 5 was sent 5 or 6 days ago, it should be here soon!
I have bad experiences with Bandai and ADV films though, Funimation are more awesome for that eagerness they have.

So I know not many of you have this yet, but I wanted to ask if anyone else thought the "CHA LA HEAD CHA LA" sounded really muffled on this one. (Like more than just the usually bland Japanese audio quality) They use the same opening encode for every episode so you can watch any episode to check. I just didn't remember it sounding so muffled on the last set, but I can't think of any reason why it would be any different.

Anyway, I'm kinda busy right now but are there any scenes/shots in particular that you guys want screencaps of?

Super Vegeta hitting Cell right in the gut, 16's head blown off close up, and Gohan turning Super Saiyan for the first time.

Also, the battle between Kuririn and First Form Cell is a pretty fast-motion fight, IIRC. Me thinks that would be a good test to see if any motion blurring or disappearing lines pop up.

The missing lines are my favorite aspect of the Season sets.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

You mean this? (Final Flash scene... one of my few favorites from the English Dub)

You'd think they'd have fixed it by now, but oh well... although to be fair, some of it looks good.

By the way, don't know where you guys are grabbing stuff at, but I grabbed it yesterday (05/16/2008) at Walmart for $29.

Not only does my Walmart not carry this(or any other anime for that matter... They told me that they stopped stocking it due to "remodeling"... yeah right, my ass), but the stuff they do get in is in MUCH later than the street date. It is like that for every store around my area...

Wow... that Trunks one. Ick. You can actually see his skin color blend into his eyes....
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

See, this annoys me, I go from seeing the nice screen caps from the Movie 1&2 re-re-release thread, to this shit.

Funimation seem perfectly capable of doing an adequate job with the movies, so why do they have to put the machine on autopilot for the TV series? :x

Whats going to happen with the tv series on Blu Ray?, where the disappearing lines are going to look even more obvious?

Man These look nice, The lines are awfull, but that's only when it's shaking, if the lines were removed, we wouldn't have the amazing quality. It's the color who I was afraid of, just like Season 2. Or any other weird mistakes they make.

Season 5 looking good.

Also if you have a HD tv with a upscaling ps3. The sets look amazing. They almost become Blueray. Since the blueray versions are upscaled too.
Don't know if anyone understood what I said, but anyways lol.

God every time I see those missing lines it leaves me squirming uncomfortably in my seat. There is no way to go "Its no big deal" with this issue. I’ll go as far as to say that one issue alone makes the product in general look cheap. Yet I'm still tempted to buy it because Funi has made it cheap enough (price wise that is) and made their singles virtually impossible to obtain, they really are marketing master minds.

The Bluray discs are taken from atleast a 1080p source, whereas the DVDs are downconverted from 100p to 480p/i.

Bluray discs with HD material are not downscaled (in most cases) and definantly not in this case.

Quality is a subjective thing.

I have no idea what you said lol, I only know with a upscaling ps3 and HDtv you can make remastered come pretty close to the Blueray version.

Wow. Well I'm still going to get it, even though I already have it in 4:3. I would gladly get this version of the show (to have both full screen and wide screen) because it's inexpensive. I don't think anyone would pay more than $40 for this.
