I think it was his death that freed him similar to the actual story. Notice how no one came back still possessed, I doubt Boo knew some mass reversal spell.

I guess.. but I think keeping things simple is best, especially when its in line with the original.

DBM is not quite DBZ though. Bra has demonstrated that the Majin seal can just literally break if the affected person has enough will power, something not seen in the original story. Babidi has displayed the ability to make the seal invisible & undetectable to his liking, another thing not seen in the original story. And Boo can just wish for nearly anything he likes and make it reality in an instant such as removing anyone from Babidi's control(as well as possibly being an influencing factor in Bra's seal breaking), definitely not a thing in the original story.
Salagir does try to stay within range of OG DB but at times, he also writes things however he likes for his OC creations. The fact that Bra can break the Majin seal but Vegeta cannot is proof of this.

Cell also kept his seal w/o being possessed. But I have to ask, even with everything you said, what’s wrong with just keeping it simple? After you die you’re no longer brainwashed.. that’s pretty easy to understand. I’m not saying Boo couldn’t have had a hand in it but it’s not necessary either.
