What is the name of the song played in DBZ ep. 027?

Post by SSj_Rambo » Fri Apr 25, 2008 8:21 pm

What is the name of the song played in DBZ ep. 027 when Piccolo is killed by Nappa, it is also played a few times in the Frieza Saga including the episode filler when Frieza destroys Planet Vegeta. The song is also played in the begining of DBZ episode 079 when Second Form Frieza has gored Krillin and is shaking him around on his horns. I am talking about the japanese episodes and japanese audio, not the origional Funi releases.

Thank you very much if you are able to help.

I assume you're talking about the choral piece? It doesn't have a specific name. It's from DragonBall Movie 2: Sleeping Princess in the Demon God's Castle, and if you want to know, the choral version is on the 5-disc set (disc 5, track 3, piece 4), and the instrumental version isn't available on CD.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Yeah... I guess I should warn you that the 5-disc set isn't easy to find legitimately, though I understand you can find it at anime conventions. Good luck, though! :)

Ah brilliant! Thanks a lot, I really wanted to know the name of the piece. Is it true that this is missing from the FUNi remastered season sets?

Edit: Wait, do you mean that pretty large, almost operatic filmic piece, that was also played when Tien first used the Tri-beam (Don't know JP alternative) in DB?

I think I got mixed up. I was thinking of the sad piece.

That piece is actually a shortened version of the opera piece; "Carmina Burana" from the Opera "O Fortuna", it's a famous piece of music that crops up in several places, used to best effect I think, at the beginning of Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet.
I love humans, always seeing patterns in things that aren't there.

I have heard the song in several diffirent episodes on my friends FUNi remastered season 2 and 3 sets so I don't think it is missing. Also, I am not sure if it was played in Dragonball other than movie 2 but it might have been.
