What does the Z stand for?

It's true that Goku is an adult throughout all of DBZ, but he also was an adult in the final storyarch of Dragon Ball, so that view is a bit overly simplistic.Nick wrote:I always thought it was a way of saying that this second series is when Goku was an adult.

As for why Z, before I knew anything I did think it was for Zenkai (ala closing song Zenkai Power), but from the interviews I've read from Akira Toriyama, as others have said, he put Z there because he wanted people to think it would be ending soon. A bit of irony, that.

That was from the "Falsely Answered" questions on good ol' Planet Namek. If I rack my brain, I remember they also said "Z" stood for "Zoinks!" because Toriyama was a Scooby Doo fan. Oooh, good times.
