ATTN: People versed in cars, motorbikes, & firearms

Hey there, everybody.

So, as part of a comprehensive project to improve the Manga Guide on the site, I've been attempting to track down some of the real-life designs behind the vehicles and weapons that appear in the series. As you may or may not know, both Akira Toriyama and his assistant Takashi Matsuyama were (and are) nuts about these things, and would subtly (and not-so-subtly) incorporate real-world designs mixed in with pure fancy.

Some are easy (like the ones spelled out in guidebooks, typos be damned), and some are hard because they're probably modifications or mashups of real things (especially once Toriyama mostly stops using real-world logos), but cataloguing these would make the site that little bit more comprehensive. (A certain user-edited site has similar lists, but I don't trust it, for obvious reasons.)

So... would anyone be willing to help?

If I'm not mistaken, Derek Padula has been looking into some of these things on his Facebook page for a while now. I'm not sure how often he visits Kanzenshuu, but maybe you could try asking him?

I can help with the firearms! Only a smidge of motorcycles and probably not any of the cars.

I just happened to come across this now. Is the project still active?

I've spent hours, days, sometimes weeks tracking down the planes, boats, cars, guns, and weapons in the series, from modern to ancient.

As far as the original Dragon Ball manga is concerned, I've already published them in Dragon Ball Culture Volumes 1 through 6, with Volume 7 covering the anime, coming out in a few months.

So if you have questions about specific objects, you can ask me and I'll look it up and relay the answer.
