Is Mystic Gohan a temporary boost?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

No, he couldn't. He already did what he does to transform and the ending result was the completion of the Elder Kai's ritual. No more transforming for Gohan. And besides that, the arguement that transforming wouldn't increase his power because he's already at his maximum holds no water. That's his maximum power in that form. But a transformation is a new form with a new maximum. Thus, if he has the power to transform the transformation would increase his power.

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

I think, he just didn't have any ability to transform anymore or it wouldn't have increased his powers.

Otherwise, he would have done it in the fight against "Gotenks-Piccolo-Buu".

So I always thought that this ultimate powerup resulted in Gohan having maximum power AS IF he was transformed in a way, but without the constant energy-strain that a SSJ would have for example.

Yeah, that seems about right. It's all of his SSj power (and then some), just "relocated" into his base form, and is easier to use from it.
