That's pretty ridiculous. I've seen every Dragon Ball related movie and special (even the "OVA"), and I don't regret a single one of them, even the ones I dislike; Because I dislike them, and that's my opinion, not some fandom consensus. I can understand not wanting to waste the cash because it might be a bum movie, but to avoid the thing entirely? That's silly.Sun_Wukong wrote:In my 10+ years being a DB fan I have never seen movie 11 and never will. Its the one movie I refuse to watch because I've heard nothing good about it.
Were Movies 10 and 11 a total waste?

The only thing that bothers me about Movie 11 is that I felt it had a lot of wasted potential to be awesome! No Goku? Mr. Satan and 18 with Goten and Trunks? That had the makings of an original flick the likes of which the franchise had never seen!
Instead the blew it with the shadow of an overused villain, and a ridiculously anticlimactic ending...
Mr. Satan shenanigans had such potential too!

Then you, sir, are not a true hardcore Dragon Ball fan. That's a pretty stupid excuse for not wanting to watch one of the movies (or any movie, at that).Sun_Wukong wrote:In my 10+ years being a DB fan I have never seen movie 11 and never will. I would watch an anime movie of a series I like to even if I didn't like it. I think it's kind of stupid when people don't even care to watch it for themselves and judge it. But movie11 really did suck though. It was just a slimy blob monster flick with some DBZ characters.
But I really don't care what other DBZ fans feel like watching or not. Besides, if ya watched 500+ episodes and like twenty other movies, then it doesn't matter if you miss one crappy Broli fic.

Positives- decent comedy. Goten and Trunks double teaming (and running circles around) the Broli-ish thing. If you aren't a fan of the kids, that may not appeal. I am, so it did. You know how in 10, they kinda had to play defense or escape until Gohan showed up? Well either the movie implies that they've been training or that Broli is weaker, cuz they actually kick his ass until a shoulder injury starts to hinder one of them.Sun_Wukong wrote:In my 10+ years being a DB fan I have never seen movie 11 and never will. Movie 10 was ok, not good not bad
Oh, and Kuririn cuts off Broli's head with a Kienzan. He regenerates, cuz he's all goopy and crap, but it was probably the single most badass moment for Kuririn in all of the movies.
So basically, if you like the short people (except Chiaozu) you may enjoy 11 somewhat. It's far from perfect, but at the end of the day it aint #4. And that counts for something.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.
I had a fansub tape (One of those square black things that go into a VeeSeeArr) of movie 11 many years ago. The most amusing thing about it was a line that the fansubber added. The line appeared after Goten and Trunks did their best Chim Chim impression, and hid in Mr. Satan's trunk. A whale bursts out of the water and Trunks exclaims: "Look Goten! It's Trish Ledoux!". I still laugh about it every now and again.

I'm a Piccolo girl. A lot of my judgements varry on basis of him- so I am not a very big fan of the Brolli sequals. Yes, the one with the kids running around arguing with visitors was funny but I still got bored watching it. Bio-Brolli was just complete nonsense/terrible though > <
I started rewatching through all the dbz movies tonight, and I plan to just skip both of those and movie 13. The fusion movie makes so much more of a entertaing end to the set.

I actually have only seen movie five once and don't remember any astounding Pic stuff in it. Mainly from that movie I remember HOLY SHIT SON REMEMBERED HIS FAMILY! stuff. Movie six, however..... I remember quite a number of absolutely stunning and ridiculously gorgeous Pic stuff, like the shot where he's almost dancing through the robots as he rips them apart and it just...... > > Hehe. If there is big Pic stuff in 5, don't tell me. We're watching that one tonight in the next set of four.
And Wukong- aaw... you don't like 4? It's my second favorite of the movies, but of course I'm biassed when nameccians kick sayiajin ass and can only be beaten with the help of other nameccians ^______^

I never cared for the character Broly, and aside from Movie 8 being decent, I didn't care for either Movie 10 or Movie 11 very much. Too much fanboy love for Broly has added so much fuel to my hate for the character, that I have a hard time enjoying any of the movies that feature him as a villian. Everytime a casual fan asks me if Super Saiyan 3 or Super Saiyan 4 Goku could take Broly, I just have to take an exhaustive sigh and tell them that Super Saiyan 2 Goku could probably kill Broly without breaking a sweat. The misconception that he is some uber god of a character is the cause for massive fail to me.
My top five Dragonball features are these:
-Dragonball Z: Bardock, The Father of Goku (Special)
-Dragonball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle (DB Movie 2)
-Dragonball Z: Dead Zone (DBZ Movie 1)
-Dragonball Z: Cooler's Revenge (DBZ Movie 5)
-Dragonball Z: Wrath of the Dragon (DBZ Movie 13)
There are others that I really like as well, and some that I just downright hate to watch much at all. I prefer the movies that were both serious and entertaining, but also had original plots/stories that went along with them. Anything that is too much of a series plot rehash, or characters killed in the same way kinda seems like a bore to me.
How many Movie villians did Goku kill with the Spirit Bomb? How many rehashed plot elements or battle aspects from fights in the series? Of course everyone will have their personal favorites, but some of the stinkers are stinkers to almost every fan.
Curse of the Blood Rubies? They recycle scenes and animation directly from the first saga in this film! Talk about laziness.. Lord Slug, an evil old Namekian who wishes for his youth and power with the Dragonballs, then becomes giant sized in a battle with a shirtless Goku. Whoa wait, deja vu anyone? I wonder where those kinds of situations happened before? Broly Second Coming, cool! Waitaminute, Broly survived being blown to bits after Goku punched a hole in his stomach and blew him up from the inside out? Ok... Bio Broly? First off, why? and secondly, if those guys were going to clone someone, why not someone else? Doesn't really make sense to clone something you couldn't control, does it?
None of the features are perfect, but there are those that really shine, and those that fail heavily.

I like movie 10. My favorite moment of the movie was when Gohan and Goten are struggling to hold Broly at bay and Goku is urging them on. It was surprisingly emotional.
As for movie 11, if there's one thing it had going for it, it had to be that it showcased characters that don't usually get the spotlight, like the husband and wife combo of Kuririn and No 18. It also has some really silky smooth animation at some points.
I think the only real waste was movie 4. Holy crap, I always struggle to watch it to the end. Slug was so lame.

oO What's with all the movie 4 hate? It wasn't any dumber than most other dbz movies, which are some 90% entertainingly dumb. I absolutely loved the Sluggu movie, even without the Nameccian thing. It was fun- and certainly less braindead than Bio Brolli or the Android 13 flic.

I can agree. Movie 7 is my least favorite by far. I hold it in such little regard, that I forgot about it until you mentioned it. To copy someone else, here's my top five.Velasa wrote:oO What's with all the movie 4 hate? It wasn't any dumber than most other dbz movies, which are some 90% entertainingly dumb. DB 3 (Mystical Adventure)
DBZ 2 (The World's Strongest)
DBZ 3 (The Tree of Might)
DB 10th anniversary (The Path to Power)
Bardock: Father of Goku
To be honest, I love all four Dragon Ball movies a lot. And all three TV specials (two Z and one GT) are all really good too (I freely admit I cry during the GT special when Goku thinks his friend died, and when Big Goku returns - the movie would be my number 6 spot). But the Z movies are more touch-and-go for me.
The first three Z movies are amazing. Quick bursts of high-powered fun, with interesting (and cool!) villains and settings. Four hits a snag, but only for the animation. I actually quite like Slug, even if he's just Daimao part Duex. Five and six are really good, but aren't quite as interesting as the first three. Seven and eight are a low point, with eight being marginally better, if only for the good animation through most of it. Nine is amazing, as awesome and interesting as the first three. And I already said I like 10 and 11 for the humor, but are otherwise nothing special. 12 and 13 are back to the standard of 1, 2, 3 and 9 -- and they also have the best animation of the lot.
Oh, and "Plan to Eradicate The Saiyajins" is bullshit.
My guess: it's a double copy. Not only does it unabashedly rip from the King Piccolo arc, it also reuses movie 3's script.Velasa wrote:oO What's with all the movie 4 hate?
