Here is my Dragon Ball Super chapter 78 full summary that I can share with you.

Spoiler:

- Chapter 78: “Gas’ wish”.
- Oil informs Macki that the fight between the Saiyans and Granolah is over.
- Macki informs Elec and Gas about the situation, she tells them that a Namekian has stopped the battle. Elec assumes that he's Monaito.
- Gas and Macki say it's their chance to finish off the 3 of them now that they're weakened.
- Elec agrees and sends them to kill them while he fulfills his wish. Macki gives him the radar and the spell for the Dragon Ball.
- Elec tells Gas that he will fulfill his wish. Gas says that it's not necessary if he doesn't want to do it but Elec tells him that the best way to fulfill their objectives is with the wish.
- Macki and Gas leave while Elec stays on the ship.
- Granolah is upset becouse he's been working for the Heeter Force all this time when it was Elec who killed his mother.
- Granolah grabs Monaito asking him why he allowed it, Monaito tells him that it was the only way they could survive. Goku separates them.
- Vegeta asks Monaito if Bardock defeated Gas, Monaito says he did and that thanks to him they survived.
- Goku is glad to hear it, Vegeta wonders if Gas was very weak, since Bardock was a low-level warrior. Monaito says Bardock was incredibly strong.
- Suddenly the sky goes dark, Goku says that it's the same thing that happens when the dragon is summoned.
- We see that Elec has summoned the dragon, he is surprised to see it. Cerealians wonder what is going on.
- Back to Goku's group, the sky returns to normal. Everyone is confused.
- Suddenly Goku and Vegeta get frightened, both feel a very powerful Ki approaching.
- Someone flies to them at full speed, then we see that Oil and Macki appear on top of a rock.
- Goku is very angry with them for everything they have done. Macki tells them that they have come to finish them off.
- Macki thanks Granolah for all the work he's done for them during last years. Granolah is furious.
- Macki tells Granolah that it's too bad that he made a wish to be "the strongest warrior in the universe" without permission. Heeter Force cannot let such a wish come true.
- Goku: "Wish?"
- Macki: "The true strongest warrior in the universe is here... Gas!!"
- Vegeta: "What!? Again with the strongest warrior in the universe?"
- We see that someone climbs the rock where Macki and Oil are, is Gas. His body has grown, he no longer looks like a child, he has an adult body with very marked muscles.
- Everyone is surprised to see him, Monaito assumes that in the end they have used the Dragon Ball. Vegeta and Goku are surprised to discover that Cereal planet also has Dragon Ball.
- Granolah says that if they asked that wish, he is no longer the strongest warrior in the universe. Goku assumes that now is Gas.
- Gas fires a Ki beam with his finger. The Ki beam goes towards Goku's group, who narrowly dodge it. However Gas' attack cuts Granolah's ship in half.
- Gas creates a spear with 4 points and throws it to Granolah, who cannot dodge it. The 4 points of the spear dig into Granolah's shoulders and thighs. Then the spear sticks into the ship, leaving Granolah immobilized.
- Gas goes down to the ship and tells Granolah that he has never liked him. Thanks to the strength he has now, they no longer need Granolah at all.
- When Gas is about to kill Granolah, Goku tries to stop Gas. However, Gas creates cubes on Goku's wrists and ankles that make him fall to the ground. Goku cannot move.
- Gas tells Goku that he has the same face that the Saiyan he met in the past. Then Gas asks Goku if that Saiyan is still alive.
- Vegeta tells Gas that all the Saiyan were annihilated by Frieza and that only a few of them survived. Macki says that they will eliminate the garbage that was left by Frieza.
- Goku wonders why they are going to kill them, becouse they haven't done anything to Heeter Force. Gas says he's going to eliminate them along with Granolah, this way there won't be anyone who can interfere in their plans.
- Gas creates an ax and is about to cut Goku but someone attacks him from behind.
- It was Granolah, who got rid of the spear thanks to Monaito. Granolah tells Gas that he is still the strongest warrior in the universe.
- Gas attacks Granolah with a spiked mace, he hits him in the face. Then Gas continues hitting Granolah with the mace. However, Granolah is still on his feet trying to fight.
- Macki mocks Granolah saying that, as they made their wish after Granolah's, by logic Gas is now the strongest warrior in the universe.
- Monaito approaches Goku and eliminates the cubes created by Gas with his powers. Then he tells Goku he will try to heal him. In return, Monaito asks Goku to help Granolah. Goku says he will try to save Granolah.
- Granolah keeps trying to hit Gas, but he can't. Granolah asks Gas how they knew that he and Monaito were alive.
- Gas tells him that they found out years after the attack on Cereal planet and that when they discovered it, Granolah was already a bounty hunter. Elec said that it would be a shame to kill someone like him and that it was better to use Granolah to work for them.
- Little flashback starts. A young Granolah trains his marksmanship in the forest while Elec and Gas talk to Monaito.
- Elec asks Monaito if Granolah is the rumored bounty hunter that people talk about. Monaito tells him not to do anything to his son.
- Elec asks Monaito why he hasn't told Granolah what happened to his mother. Monaito tells him that if he had done it, Granolah would have challenged Elec and would dead.
- Elec tells Monaito that it was a wise decision and to continue without saying anything if they don't want to end dead.
- Elec calls Granolah and tells him that if he wants to work for him, he could earn a lot of money and get off that planet. End of the flashback.
- Monaito tells Goku that he acted badly at that time, he should have faced Elec even if that would have meant his death. Then he says that he is an useless Namekian, since he cannot even help Goku to regain his strength.
- Goku remembers something and asks Vegeta if he still has the Senzu Bean. Vegeta says that he doesn't know since he threw his armor off him.
- Suddenly we see that Granolah falls near them, he has been defeated. Goku thanks Monaito for treating his wounds.
- Goku tells Vegeta to go to recover his armor while he fights Gas. If the Senzu Bean is there, he asks Vegeta to eat it. Vegeta asks if he is sure, Goku says yes because he already ate one (Vegeta gave one to Goku in chapter 72).
- Vegeta accepts and tells him to hang on. Goku tells Vegeta that when he recovers, he must transform into that scary face's form and defeat Gas. Vegeta is upset becouse he thinks Goku is making fun of his secret technique.
- Goku arrives where Gas is to fight him. Gas creates a kind of sword connected to a fist and attacks Goku.
- Goku transforms into SSJ Blue and destroys Gas' weapon. He then attacks him, but Gas creates a shield and stops Goku's attacks.
- Goke throws a blast of Ki at him but Gas dodges it and hits Goku on the head with a giant hammer.
- Macki mocks Saiyans, saying they don't understand yet that Gas is now the strongest warrior in the universe. Oil then realizes that Vegeta has disappeared.
- Vegeta finds his armor, the Senzu Bean is there intact. However, he doesn't eat it.
- Gas continues hitting Goku. Gas creates now a rope with weights and hits Goku, that returns to his normal form.
- Vegeta comes to where Granolah is and tells him to get up and eat the Senzu Bean.
- Granolah asks him what it is. Vegeta tells him that if he eats the bean, he will recover all his strength. Granolah tells Vegeta to eat it, since he is very powerful.
- But Vegeta refuses and tells him that he must be the one who defeats those villains with his own strength.

No judgement on the story's quality so far, but this is a very odd arc structure. Making this same wish twice in the same arc in the span of a few days is to me inherently off-putting but I'll see where they go with this.

FINALLY we shall know if Granolah has UI and Hakai!!! But based on Gokus text, he knows why Granolah has "similar moves"

I think this was just the "first wish" Let's not forget Elec still has the Dragon Ball Radar, a ship, and a scheme.
It's still possible we get another big twist wish that leads to some of my theories. OG-73 Army, knowledge wish etc.

As for the condition, I think Moros power may still be dormant in OG-73, and that "Genki" or lifeforce may be used, to power up Gas. However Elec will betray Gas....for his own wish.... which may be a knowledge wish of epic porportions, like a OG-73 army or Zuno knowledge

Really? We still won't get to see Bardock fighting and humiliating these random folks? This was the perfect opportunity to show it... Oh well, guess this is it, then. Unless I'll have to wait another ten months for that.

I just can't get over Monaito, this arc's shitty writing has led to the creation of the most useless character in Dragon Ball history.

Not only did he refuse to use the Dragon Balls to do ANYTHING about the genocide of the Cereleans, he then also let Granolah work for the people who killed his mother for DECADES. What kind of a "friend" is that!?

His excuse of "where would the Sugarians live if the Cereleans came back?" is so fucking stupid. These Dragon Balls reactivate immediately. Just wish for a new hospitable planet, wish for the Sugarians and all their infrastructure to be teleported there and then wish for the Cereleans to be revived.

Toyotarou is just an awful writer and a mediocre artist, he is nowhere close to being a worthy successor to Toriyama, he was given more freedom in the arc and he gave us Granolah... outside of his character design and decent backstory everything about him is just so dull and boring, he's the "strongest in the universe" yet he puts me to sleep anytime he's on page, Ultra Ego Vegeta amounted to a worthless wet fart and we can't forget "Good Guy Bardock (TM)".

If this level of awful writing is all we have to look forward to then the sooner this manga is cancelled/ends the better.

Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 78 releases in the January 2022 issue of V-Jump, which hits Japanese shelves on Saturday, November 20. The official international digital release hits at midnight Japan time, which in most of those timezones is actually Friday, November 19.

The more I look at it, the more the Granolah arc reminds me of Broly: it centres around the past actions of Saiyans in a vengeance-motivated 'fated meeting' tale, with a constantly escalating battle as an immovable centrepiece of the arc.

I'm glad that we're looking to get the Chapter sited principally in the present, as I suspected we might - it would've been weird to drop the most important plot development of the arc early in the Chapter and then go "anyway, now to finish off Monaito's scattered reminiscences of Bardock for completeness' sake...". And while it still looks pretty decompressed in terms of pacing, at least the subject matter appears to warrant drawing out the plot beat due to its importance.

I also appreciate that the arc is giving us a twin-track story set both in the past and the future and unfolding at the same time in the reader encounter (which is a marked difference from Broly, which gave us the past as context and pretext for the combat and then basically forgot about it), and arguably it always has been, as the day the Cerealians were destroyed has been progressively unfolding for us since Chapter 68, as the plot in the present goes on - I figure given the developments of this Chapter, this twin unfolding will become significant to the outcome of the story, as (getting into possible spoiler territory now):

The plot has deliberately backed off of giving us the resolution of the Bardock-Gas encounter in detail, while putting the heroes essentially in Bardock's position in the present: fighting against Gas, who is much stronger than they are. With the past-story and present-story unfolding at the same time in the reader encounter, it seems likely that however it is revealed that Bardock was able to prevail over the much stronger Gas will likewise become relevant for Goku in the present, as a possible route to victory.

Looking forward to reading the Chapter, and seeing where it goes afterwards.

No judgement on the story's quality so far, but this is a very odd arc structure. Making this same wish twice in the same arc in the span of a few days is to me inherently off-putting but I'll see where they go with this.

eh it actually happened in the namek saga with reviving people but tori was smart and made the characters had to fight for that.

this does highlight Toyo's biggest draw and flaw. He is a fanboy.

he knows dragon ball, using the balls to increase power is a theory i have always seen fans speculate and he remembers things about the series that toriyama forgot. The problem is he doesn't know how to dragon ball without truly understanding why the moments he replicates worked.

though this arc is better than the last one and it doesn't have as many wtf moments.

One thing I am very curious to know is what was the downside of the Heeta's wish? Does Gas know how many years of his life have been shaved off? I bet this will come into play in a big way.

His excuse of "where would the Sugarians live if the Cereleans came back?" is so fucking stupid. These Dragon Balls reactivate immediately. Just wish for a new hospitable planet, wish for the Sugarians and all their infrastructure to be teleported there and then wish for the Cereleans to be revived.

I get where you're coming from, but this is most likely because he didn't have a means of finding the Dragon Balls to repeatedly make wishes. He didn't have a radar, and the 2nd ball was missing for decades before Granolah made his wish... but then you can say "why didn't he wish for a radar?" or "why didn't he grab the balls like how Goku once immediately grabbed the 4 star ball" and it gets messy

Maybe the balls aren't capable of any wishes without some kind of monkey's paw sacrifice.

I just can't get over Monaito, this arc's shitty writing has led to the creation of the most useless character in Dragon Ball history.

I've not read the spoilers and won't, but this kind of hyperbole is so goddamn silly.

First of all, he's a minor supporting character. They don't tend to be deep because the story isn't about them. Some characters can exist just to further the characters you're supposed to care about. This isn't the MCU where every character onscreen is going to get a shitty spinoff tv show or movie.

Secondly... some old guy is the worst character in all of Dragonball? Really? Of all the shit Toei/Bandai have put out there over the last 30 years (and continue to put out with each new Dragonball Heroes event)... this guy is the worst? Man...

Nahh, Toriyama worked on it's outline longer than on the Moro arc.
This claim alone confirms it will last a few chapters more than the previous one. Elec will probably do another wish or something while everyone's busy punching each other. Gas won't be the final boss here either.

I can't get excited. From the looks of it, the fight will be close range. Boring ! Step up the game Toyo, Gas is strongest ? Granolah is strongest ? Why should we care ? Their fight blew up some trees and made some hole in the street, Big deal ! why should we care ?
Wasn't this arc supposed to be about Vegeta ? We cared about that ! Now what ? Why suddenly shift the attention to Granolah ? Are we supposed to care about his revenge ? Where is the spectacle, where is the presentation ? So much potential ! Why all this waste !
