Herms if you could attend this and see it, it would make a heck of an awesome report project for all of us, er, I mean the Kanzentai site.Herms wrote:OK, so it seems that the Jump anime tour with the new DB episode and all the other stuff will be at the Tokyo Metropolitan Hibiya Public Hall on September 27th. That's about 10 days after I'm scheduled to arrive in Tokyo for my year studying abroad. So hopefully I'll manage to see this thing. I still can't find any details on how to get tickets though; looking through the Hibiya Public Hall website, it looks like I'd have to get them through Shounen Jump, but I can't find any details about that on Shounen Jump's website. I guess I'll just have to wait for more details to be revealed.
Woohoo! More News About The New Dragonball Special!

You know . . . it'd be cool if it showed a little adventure or whatever of Goku and co., post-DB, but pre-DBZ. I've been really missing the light-hearted fun and not to mention the characters (most of whom fade into the background in DBZ) from the Piccolo Jr. arc, etc. . . . Goku wasn't as powerful as he is in DBZ then, so the playing field was a bit more leveled, and the other fighters (Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Krillin, etc.) could actually help and be useful. Also, Goku and Chi-Chi, newly-wed, working together and learning to live with one another, would be hilarious, and maybe touching, to see, IMHO.
Won't happen, but, ah . . . I can dream. XD

Judging by the latest podcast, it seems he's also unclear on how exactly to go about gaining admittance to this anime tour. He said it might even be by lottery or something.Kendamu wrote:Maybe Julian knows something. Ask him.
At any rate, it looks like this anime tour will be in Osaka on the 21st, so Julian will be able to see it a week earlier than I will (assuming either of us manage to see it). Darn, and I thought I'd have the scoop on this thing...

I had mentioned to my brother that It'd be AWESOME if it were a new story by Toriyama back when it was first announced, as I did about the Boo/Satan thing. Looks like at least ONE of those things is happening! Here's hoping for the second!

Isn't it also possible the story's going to be related to Dragonball Online?
As a kind of promotion animation? I think that's even more a possibility than anything else.
In any case I'd rather have something post-DBZ like some others here :p Also something with Uub, that'd be awesome :p He did some cool things in GT, but his role was waaaaay too short. And maybe... teen Goten and Trunks fusing to Teen Gotenks :p
What'd really be awesome is if all the characters had to fight a battle together, but pretty much without Goku (I want Uub or Gotenks or Pan or whatever to give the final blow :p) Of course Goku can fight, but not the final blow hopefully :p

I mean, they're doing other specials too, supposed for the anniversary of the magazine, isn't it? No, I don't think it'll be about DBO. I am looking forward to the game, though. . just not near as much as a new special.

Perhaps this really is the beginning of a whole new series!?
They could just be testing the water, to see if fans like ourselves are still hyped up and wanting more!
Lets just hope this mysterious new episode isn't going to suck like some of GT
I really hope some unanswered questions will be... Well Answered. I sure hope Vegeta plays a major role in the movie, as well as Gohan.
It will also be nice to see some Master Roshi humor in their somewhere
Ooooh I hope it gets a dvd release!!!

I doubt it's a new series, they're doing specials for loads of shows that are still airing now. I think some people might need to calm down a bit, we don't know anything about the special other than it's written/conceived by Akira Toriyama. I'd remember not to take "episode" that seriously yet; it doesn't automatically mean an episode of the show's canon, but just a self-contained story, or "episode".saiyanprincess wrote:Perhaps this really is the beginning of a whole new series!?

For all we know, this could just be a 10 minute joke fest for some good laughs. So it might be wise to cool of the excitement of what this could possibly entail for us fans and just enjoy the fact that we're getting some all new Dragonballness.
Otherwise people are going to get well disappointed.

I'm kinda surprised nobody has brought this up, but with how long Kazuhiko Torishima said Toriyama's been working on DBO (5 years), anyone think the special might bridge the 200-year gap between the Dragon Ball manga and Dragon Ball Online?
The DBO trailer released back around March had all sorts of interesting history tidbits, stuff about Lunch, Mr. Boo, the Yardratians, etc., occuring between the manga and game, after all.

That's what I'm thinking it will be, It's not like Toryama (in any of his works) to leave major gaps in the storyline longer than 10 years. If the storyline does not take place after the Dragonball manga than it would be nice for it to take place sometime before the manga, maybe explain some more of Vegeta's past or something that we haven't seen very deep into.Amaranth Sparrow wrote:...anyone think the special might bridge the 200-year gap between the Dragon Ball manga and Dragon Ball Online?

Indeed. It just seems to be a fun little special. I'd like it to be something more, but I doubt it. Either way, I'm going to be happy.NeptuneKai wrote:I'm just going to laugh if it focuses on Mr. Satan's wacky adventures with fat Buu. I really doubt it's going to be any plot changing epic.

Trunks & Goten forever
Yeah, he tried that with Boo, too....but that didn't work out too well, either.Kendamu wrote: For example, rather than seeing an enemy that trumps all others, I'd like to see someone powerful enough to give Uub a challenge. Also, rather than seeing Goku step in and blow him away in two seconds, I'd rather him pull a "Muten Roshi vs. Tenshinhan" move where he could beat the villain, but he decides that the upcoming generation is going to be great enough to take care of their own problems which would allow Goku to retire and simply be a teacher.
It would be somewhat like what Goku was trying to do in the first place ever since the Cell Game, but this time it would actually work! It would also allow some spotlight time for Pan, Goten, and Trunks to play the lead.
Well, I suppose Oob would be more dependable than Goten and Trunks.
