While I wouldn't call myself "pumped" for this, the more info we get about it, the more intrigued I am, and so far I find this film way more intriguing than the Broly film, which I was completely indifferent about pre and post release.fleahop wrote: Tue Jan 04, 2022 3:47 pm I'm so freaking pumped for this. I also love the idea of Gohan and Piccolo going against RR Army which may have sins of the father undertones (kid Goku merked left and right) which are sorely begging to be addressed. Though you have to question how many people really remember that. Then again, their paying audience probably does remember that as I imagine only hardcore DB fans will be going to theaters for this.
Even if they don't do that, it's really neat to kinda have a mix of themes here. You have OG dragon ball with proper RR Army, not just Gero. There's also Gohan and Piccolo with little Son Pan kinda like early DBZ with Raditz. Then Pan herself being the key to the future of the series and all that entails.
Also as far as the "the most talked about movie of 2022" marketing tag? Guys stop getting so bent out of shape and hating on the product you love. It's odd. So many other movies do this exact same thing here in then West on commercials even when they're C movie trash. It's just marketing like others have said.
I really hope to see Gohan get angry and then instead of letting loose I want to see him have to control his anger and not destroy the person because Pan is there, to show his daughter he's the hero.
Edit: Sorry for the salad, I just am really excited for this movie.
I would be just as excited as you are if it weren't for the ugly 3D. I don't think I can support this movie... Even though I like the different approach not having 2D animation really kills my enthusiasm.

I wanted another 2D movie, but I'm open to the idea of TOEI being able to pull off a Dragon Ball movie with this much CGI. We all thought story-wise there was no way Broly could be as good as it was.

Didn't that already happen with Gohan being the only one who could defeat Cell, the Red Ribbon Army's ultimate creation? I like this idea, would be really wholesome.I really hope to see Gohan get angry and then instead of letting loose I want to see him have to control his anger and not destroy the person because Pan is there, to show his daughter he's the hero.

You're not wrong, but I was more thinking it should be directly addressed in a big way. Like actually stated. Doubt it happens thoughThe Monkey King wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 1:57 pmDidn't that already happen with Gohan being the only one who could defeat Cell, the Red Ribbon Army's ultimate creation? Well it didn't really innovate story-wise though, it was pretty standard. Bardock flashback was from Minus and Broly's own flashback was pretty short and simple.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 12:28 pm We all thought story-wise there was no way Broly could be as good as it was.
Broly's movie main draw was obviously the animation and fight itself.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
Broli's biggest weakness (aside from the music) was the structural issues (Minus is good, it just needed to be worked into the main story). Otherwise it had a pretty good story on its hands and I wish it had had more time to bake.

There was a fake leak with Cell being tase at the end. It would be interesting to see if a new Cell had a DNA of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, current Freeza, Buu, Broly, and Moro. He would a total beast in power.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
I see people over the net clamoring for Gohan to get a new transformation and honestly that's the last thing that needs to happen in order for the action in this movie have a satisfactory pay off. I mean, what's the point? If you give him a new form and he's still not on the same level as Goku and Vegeta, then he's still in third place and it'll be like nothing happened. If you DO put him in the same league as Goku and Vegeta that's also pointless because he doesn't enjoy the sport of fighting and training so he cant contribute to the competitive edge those two have, it'll ultimately serve no purpose, since he's gonna get surpassed again anyway.
Gohan doing cool moves as an SS2 and in his Ulitmate form is plenty for what the movie is going for, clearly Toriyama and co are going for a system where Gohan and Piccolo oversee the day to day while Goku and Vegeta handle the big picture stuff.

It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Cell should pull a Piccolo and become Pan's teacher. Ugh. Using Piccolo here is so boring.Hellspawn28 wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 8:33 pm There was a fake leak with Cell being tase at the end. I can’t say I consider Broly to be a remarkable film. There’s not much in terms of depth. The Minus stuff is pretty lame and I actually kind of prefer the old Broly’s backstory. The movie also runs into the same problem that Movie 8 has; the story grinds to a halt once the fighting starts, and it drags on. That’s not to say the movie’s bad. It’s a huge step up from Resurrection ‘F’. It’s just not my favorite Dragon Ball movie.
On the subject of this movie, I actually did recently think to myself “what if they brought back Cell?” I suppose that would give the movie more of an actual draw, but I can’t say I’d be a fan of that idea.

It's a fun film. Not all films are just vehicles for story or dialogue. The story of Broli is not the only one playing out on the screen. The film is the story of its production crew, too. Real human beings who struggled for years on a TV series that was falling apart and killing them but were now getting a chance to shine.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
New Broly got some character depth he is not evil just for the sake of it, that is what a good written villain should be. As I said good written villain's are that kind of people who you can sympathize for and root for,(Few examples: Pain(naruto),Meruem(HXH), Shogo makishima although he was insane but still you can root for him beacuse sibyl system was faulty at the end of the day(Psycho pass) etc) thats why that movie was awesome dosen't matter if minus was lame because that movie's main draw was Broly and inmo Toriyama did him justice. Now if i want to see a remarkable plot driven story I will watch Ghibli movies or watch berserk movies (even though those movie's CGI were terrible but not an absolute garbage).WittyUsername wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:02 am I can’t say I consider Broly to be a remarkable film. It's great to see so much enthusiasm for this movie! I'm glad some of the earlier comments in this thread are being slowly disproven. The fans have spoken and they are hyped!

The events of the manga will probably be ignore sadly. If UE Vegeta does show up, they could show a small flashback of Vegeta training with Beerus to explain his new form.

Not sure how you get that impression. I think most are positive for the story but negative for the butt ugly 3D. While some are negative for both.capsulecorp wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:16 pm It's great to see so much enthusiasm for this movie! Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.
