Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"

Honestly, I'm hyped about the movie. The premise sounds interesting and it's nice to see Gohan and Piccolo getting more focus. The CGI doesn't bother me, it makes me even a little curious.

I'm hoping for another trailer this month, and also some more relevant information at this month's event.

In the Broly-thread four years ago there were constant guessings and discussions about what the exact plot of the movie would be. This movie will be released within 3 months, and there is still a lot room to fill in, but you don't find any meaningful further speculation about the content of the movie itself in the latest 10-15 pages of this thread, and now people are even talking about other potential scenarios?
That is at least very remarkable. Where is the hype guys?

Yeah, I mentioned this earlier but people I know outside of Kanzenshuu were actually very skeptical about the Broly movie, due to, well... a lot of us think the original Broly movie was awful In this very thread I see many people saying they are excited about DBS Super Hero, and others saying they are not... and that's fine!

HOWEVER

It's not possible to know about and not useful to generalize about other people's opinions and expectations, so discussions about topics like "people are hype! people are not hype!" are pointless and, more importantly, boring. Let's make better posts!

They were getting paid more or less the same on the last movie as they are now and that movie looked phenomenal. Sorry it’s harsh but its the truth when you downgrade because you don’t want to put in the work or higher more staff to release a good product when you have the ability to do so that is LAZY.

It's funny... I got raked over the coals for saying a Cooler movie would be more interested earlier in the thread, now I find it funny that people would rather have him over what we got. I'm not saying you in specific, but I'm noticing people aren't exactly hype for what we are getting. Any movie villain coming back would be more interesting. Cooler, Bojack, Janemba, Lord Slug, hell... even Hatchiyack would be better than what we're getting. Honestly, as much as people would groan, If the surprise villain was a perfect Cell revival it would be 100 times more hype to it. Whether it would be people bitching about it or people hype to see him return, It would get people talking. There is nothing to talk about with this movie, the villains look lame, the story so far looks uninteresting and it's not helped with the subpar CGI. I don't see anything that appeals to anyone here, not even Gohan or Piccolo fans.

BOG introduced a new protagonist, but It got away with it because the franchise was dormant for so long and it turned out to be interesting and fun. Fans were clamoring for new content and would welcome anything. While resurrection F was universally panned, It still managed to get butts in seats on Frieza's name alone, and Broly...Need I say more?. While I would probably modify a few things on your script, for something you cooked up it's 5000 times more interesting than Super superhero is. I would pay to watch your Cooler movie, Super Hero on the other hand... I don't even think I'll wait for rental or to see it uploaded for free. I'll probably watch some clips on Youtube, that's it. smh

This reads like you know what the movie is actually about, and what kinds of characters are going to be introduced, but you don't.... do you? SHOULD I trust you? I feel like I shouldn't.

Apart from speculation about stuff that you can't possibly know yet, I'm thankful DBS isn't like Marvel. Marvel is fine, sometimes, but there's enough of it already. I like DB because it's unique, not despite it.

I also want to point out, these are exactly the types of meta comments that I commented on earlier. I'm not interested in people's opinions about what "fans" want, or what people are "asking for", or what people will do in the future. We're not analysts here and this isn't Toei's board room. Let's post about our own thoughts instead of this kind of "people are saying" meta filler content.

Dude, I've been saying the same thing for years. Dragon Ball should adopt a rogues gallery of villains rather than the monster of the month thing now that it is an established 40+-year-old franchise. Look at how excited people were when Doc. Ock showed up in the No way home trailer, people care about villains. Even nostalgia bait like the return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as spider man got way more people excited than they would have been because people like Nostalgia. Also what is Nostalgic to old fans can be "new" to new fans, you really cannot go wrong because you are not isolating anyone. You have fanworks like TFS's HFIL and DevilArtimis skits that show that people really do care about the older villains. My favorite part of the FighterZ story was just seeing Frieza and Cell interact with each other and the heroes. The villains are so charismatic, and I love to see them bounce insults at one another and be something other than a foil for the heroes for a change.

When they try to introduce new villains, 9 times out of 10 they fail to capture what the classic villains brought. Many of the reasons are because they are shameless Rehashings MORO *cough* of better classic villains. There is a reason why you hear some people unenthused by the latest chapter of Super. I see Gasvs Gronalah described as two Xenoverse OC's duking it out, and that is because those characters lack years of investment. No one cares who wins, because the audience sees no value in the outcome, unlike if one of them was fighting Goku, Vegeta or another Zwarrior. Now that's not to say that I don't like modern DBS villains at all, I love Zamasu/Goku Black, I like the minor antagonist introduced like HIt and even Jiren, but just throwing out half baked villains for the sake of "new" isn't going to cut it. I'm sorry, but Moro is going to go down in history as the biggest nothing villain in the entire mainline story. His appearance just got worse with time, his motivations had promise but floundered at the finish line, his whole existence just felt like an overblown side story. Frieza's battle had an effect on the characters, Cell had an effect on the characters especially Gohan, Majin Buu too! I've grown a liking for DB villains, they are quite honestly the reason why I stick around and I believe some of them deserve to stick around and even collaborate with one another.
