2008 JSAT Special Manga Questions

Post by NeflyteMasato » Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:00 am

I have recently started looking for the manga version of the 2008 JSAT special from Naho Ōishi, but all that I’ve found so far is the animanga version. There’s not even a cover available of the actual tankōbon that I’ve been able to find so I can narrow down my search based on the cover text, which is somewhat irksome. If possible, is there someone who owns the manga who would be willing to take a picture of the cover or even tell me what the cover text is so I can find it out there. Thanks ahead of time!

So it's not an actual tankobon, which is why you're probably having trouble finding it... or, well, them!

They were two smaller insert pamphlets included with the May and June 2009 issues of V-Jump, respectively:

I don't actually own these myself (Heath does), so I can't take my own photo, but here's an auction of what you're looking for (this one is, of course, already sold):

I would say if you're going to start by going after the actual V-Jump issues they came with, be VERY CAREFUL about the listing and whether or not the ancillary stuff is included with said issues; they typically are not, especially with anything older than just a month or two. You're probably best off going after just the two pamphlets themselves.

The nice thing is that I'm seeing them regularly go for just around $10-20 total for the two. You'll probably be going through a proxy service on top of that to get them from Japanese second-hand sites like Mercari or Yahoo, but even then that's still not bad for something I consider relatively rare and historically important. I should go ahead and just get them myself, too!

Thanks for the info, it’s definitely looking like I’m going to have to be somewhat vigilant to find them!
