I don’t know if folks here are obsessed with that. I absolutely don’t want that, but this is modern Dragon Ball, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what they’re doing. The past two movies already established a trend of bringing back older villains.
Because every past DB movies have relied heavily on nostalgia so it wouldn't be out of place to bring back another villain and Cell is the last 'big one' to bring back since Buu is Uub.

Piccolo having a new form is surprising. Never expected him to have one at this point. Pan unlocking SSJ would be ok since its not special anymore. I don't understand why she didn't get it in GT, while Goku/Vegeta jr did...

I think if an iconic villain like Cell returned they wouldn't keep it secret for so long. Hopefully it's something else at the end of the trailer. Wouldn't mind to be Android 21.
Speaking of the poster, Cheelai is holding a very interesting bundle.

So Piccolo was able to get Ultimate as well...

But still no one knows where the hell this form is...

No way we're gonna get that (As much as I would love it and how it's way overdue).

Primarily due to the fact that SSJ Pan would completely throw a spanner in the works of the whole "Goku leaves his family and friends for Oob because he has so much potential" ending in the manga. Think about it. If Goku knew about a toddler becoming an SSJ, he would drop everything and focus on that. That kind of potential is what Goku lives for as a martial artist who thrives on a challenge whether it is with himself or others. Why would Goku bother with Oob when he could have the youngest SSJ in history under his wing?
I mean...he's had Goten for quite a while now. He never seemed particularly interested in training that Saiyan prodigy, so I'm not sure why Pan would be any different. Also, according to the Super manga, Uub has god ki. So his potential is already quite high.

Shiny Piccolo is what we needed!!! A battle with 2 ultimate forms is great. Considering he has a new form, i'd say that Gohan is the next.
Broly has a baby and he's probably fighting... Beerus!? SO MUCH HYPE.
I dont' know if the main villain is Cell or something else, but i would't mind his return.

Great news!

How old is Xeno Pan? Goten and Trunks loved to fight in the Buu saga but lost interest between that age and their late teens. I remember she trained Goku Jr but that might've been like Chi Chi training Goten and not that Pan necessarily trained that seriously.

I would change ultimate from the get-go because it always sucked. Ultimate Gohan was trash, it was just base Gohan, but with a bang. Very badass and creative form, Toriyama must have spent weeks coming up with that. How about instead of giving them bangs or changing their skin tone (and somehow the colors of their accessories because fuck logic) we make them look completely different? Make them bigger, change their appearance to the point where they barely if at all look like the way they did before, change their eye colors, etc. You could've done so much more than just "another recolor".

I'm sure kids would buy more toys of a badass new looking Piccolo than "Piccolo but with a lighter skin tone".

Battle of Gods is the only story so far from the new stuff that broke any sort of ground, bringing Freeza back should never have happened and Boo was always gonna be kept around, that's part of the original story.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Eh... Though I see where you're coming from, from the looks of your comment, we could have ended up with Ultimate looking similar to Super Saiyan 3 or Super Saiyan 4, both going bigger... Both being ugly as hell. So I'm glad Ultimate is the way it is (and it isn't a damned recolor either). I'll take that the "shiny" part comes from the Xenoverse games. When you transform into it, your character (and Gohan too) becomes "shiny". Maybe it's a nod to that? I don't know, think I played it too much. It's not something that bothers me, for better or worse.

Totally agreed, although the red and blue stuff we've seen for Goku and Vegeta in DBS is sort of silly and pointless, especially in the b&w manga, at least they're not as bizarre and ugly as SSJ3 and 4. I'm actually totally fine with no transformations at this point or very minor ones like what we've seen from Piccolo.

If we go the flashier transformation rute with how often a new transformation appears on super characters will end up like Super Saiyan 5 or Super Saiyan 1000, I get that this is Piccolo and not a saiyan, but still, less is more when it comes to transformations and this franchise, I just would like if he gets a slightly different aura/ki.

If I remember correctly, Xeno Pan traveled with Trunks accidentally soon after the Shadow Dragons were dealt with, so she's, whatever age Pan was at the time (9 or 10 I think).

I personally will never complain about rehashing when it comes to DB, because I come back for what I liked from the series. Freeza revitalized my interest in DB, and I'm not ashamed to say it. If Cell is in the movie I will probably rent the movie online. If 21 is in it I won't, but at least with her, I can understand why a fan of her would want to see that. As for a new movie villain, personally, I don't care. A lot of people seem to forget that some of us, actually come to DB for the classic villains we like. I'm personally for bringing back old villains, I hope they make Cooler canon too eventually, If that makes me "a bad fan" I couldn't care less anymore. Much a rather old reliables, than a boring nothing of a villain like Moro or Oil and gas company we're getting in the manga right now. I hope Cell comes back, survives to the end of the movie, and somehow teams up with Freeza. I would be a happy camper, and the people that want "new" stuff can enjoy their granola bars or something.

So recently for this movie there seems to be a huge debate as to how strong Broly is compared to Beerus since the interview came out. Well this apparently puts everything into question since Uchida mentioned Broly now Jiren is being put in the same sentence.Image

I don't think that says anything. They're just reminding everyone of his last two major opponents that people have heard of.

Movie looks good- I'm fully onboard with the look, the story and tone they're going for is enough to make me excited. The only real Sword of Damocles left is whatever the true villain they're building up to is. But even if it's something trite like Cell, I reckon I'll be able to deal.

What if it's actually just one of the new Red Ribbon guys like the little doctor bloke using that big machine to power themselves up? Then they go on a rampage and need everyone to team up to stop them in the climax? That's a very standard "superhero movie" climax.

No point in mentioning two characters that most people have never seen.

The anime was always the mainstream and iconic version of Super and the anime ended at Jiren, but it is also intuitive to associate the movie with the anime since they are both visual mediums made by Toei.
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.
