The timing of this hack is suspicious. Could it be related to that copyright infringement drama from some weeks ago?!
Imagine if they didn't have backups and would have to start from scratch.

From one side that's great, but from the other it might mean the delay will be longer than expected. If they're still going to work on the movie's quality, it feels like some video may have indeed been lost and needs to be remade.
Delayed to improve quality? This is gonna push the release back by 3 months, isn't it?
If this hack was done by irate DB fans who disapproved of TOEI's decision to make a 3D DBS film...I wouldn't know what to think tbh.
Yeah... I don't hold any hope for the movie improving in any noticeable way unless the delay is for several months.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

What are they supposed to improve? Unless they were really behind schedule and just releasing a half-assed movie (but they're not that suicidal right?), then the movie should already be finished up.
Legit what's left to improve?
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

We don't know. It could be aura effects, it could be camera angles in some scenes. We'll get to see if any of the trailer scenes will differ from the final product.

Or hopefully the director gives a bit of insight via interviews

Redoing scenes (if stuff was erased) from ground up could lead to improvements. Doing something a second time usually makes it better.
This situation kind of reminds me of the Sonic the Hedgehog film controversy, although the catalyst in this case was not (proven to be) a bunch of angry fans upset with the filmmakers.

Couldn't they just be using the hacker excuse to postpone a movie that wasn't ready for its original release date?
I never thought about that possibility before, but I'm pretty sure that Toei has the integrity to not do that

Or maybe they just want to take a break from all shows lol. What if there's no hacker at all?
Hopefully this leads to them somehow being able to simultaneously release the movie in other countries? It is sad that we will have to wait more, but realistically the fans would have gotten spoiled (or would have watched it through other less optimal means…), whereas if this delays leads to it being released closer to the west, I could see many deciding to wait.
