Not to butt in and all, but I prefer the one I made.

...More seriously, it feels strange that they still haven't given us a new release date for the movie. I wonder what the hold-up is. I guess maybe they'll say something about the situation on the 16th, considering this thing:

I only hope that "fat Gotenks" (ugh) isn't all we're gonna get from this character. It's awesome that we are finally getting proper teenager Goten and Trunks (took them long enough), but now that we've been teased with Gotenks, I also want to see proper teenager Gotenks.
Please don't turn this into yet another problem Dragon Ball Heroes has to fix but Dende knows when.

Properly Toriyama's idea to only use fat Gotenks because he knows people wants to see normal Gotenks

I'm going to seriously laugh out loud in the theater if they ignore the ToP when it comes to Gohan.
Great to see that Piccolo and Gohan will indeed fight together though. Finally as peers instead of that we got in the ToP.

It's just the Garlic Jr. Saga. Yes it's not really Garlic Jr, but the same premise. It's an "arc" focusing on other cast members while Goku and Vegeta are faffing about elsewhere. And it primarily focused on Piccolo, Gohan and Krillin. It's only major problem was the fact it was non-canon Anime Filler since the Dead Zone movie was never deemed as canon to the show. It was basically just Dead Zone Part 2, but its only real fault was dragging things out a bit too long.ZeroNeonix wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 9:03 pm Yeah, the movie does seem to be repeating some old ideas, but let's not be overly critical of it. We don't know the whole plot of the movie. We're just spotting some patterns from the trailers. Toei is taking some risks, not just with the CGI, but by focusing on characters other than Goku and Vegeta. They very easily could have just given us "Broly Part 2," or "Dragon Ball Super: Cooler," but they chose to focus on Gohan, Piccolo, and Pan. No Gogeta to stir up hype. No Ultra Instinct (as far as we know). They're focusing more on slice-of-life stuff this time around, likely full of that Toriyama brand humor.
I do find it a little frustrating how Super in general doesn't make the most of their potential, however. They started off strong with Beerus, giving us an entire multiverse to play with. Then they followed that up by bringing Frieza back from the dead as nostalgia bait. The most original story was the Future Trunks arc, and the most they've made use of the multiverse was with the Tournament of Power, which was ambitious for the number of new characters they had to introduce, but it was basically just another tournament. The Broly movie was good, but it didn't really give us anything new, being a readaptation of the first Broly movie, plus some Dragon Ball Minus stuff at the beginning.
Still this is the same concept we've seen before. So even then it's just treading the same ground as before. Only this time it's Pan instead of Krillin. But like Dead Zone, it's one of the Son family getting kidnapped and both the Father (Gohan this time) and Piccolo end up at the villain's lair.
There is SO much bad decision making with the manga that it would not be beneficial in any way for me to go off about it here.At least we have the manga, although certain fans have decided they hate it for some reason. It gives us original and interesting characters, new settings, and actual stakes, but the fans blow out of proportion every artistic decision they disagree with.

Yeah, but if only "mister Expectation Subverter" would say "no!" or at least come up with more interesting antagonists when it was decided to do a Freeza and Broly movie (he also knew people wanted to see them), that would've been a nice expectation subversion. Now's not the time for that.Asin wrote: Sat Apr 02, 2022 3:27 pmSounds about right from Mr. Expectation Subverter himself.Jiren The Alpha wrote: Sat Apr 02, 2022 10:13 am Properly Toriyama's idea to only use fat Gotenks because he knows people wants to see normal Gotenks![]()

Regarding Trunks/Gotenks hair:
They shouldn't have changed Trunks' hair in the first place. It makes no in-story sense for him to suddenly dye his hair blue. However, with Gotenks you could argue that when Fusion is done incorrectly, it could also mess up hair color.

It's hard to tell with such shitty quality screengrabs. Not bashing you, it's part of the leaks' nature. However, it does seem to imply that the entire movie would have been leaked already.Dragmobot12 wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 1:03 pm Saw this leak today, do you think it's true?
According to whoever leaked it, Carmine will get Raditz's corpse from the secret Red Ribbon facility at the very end of the movie. No explanation as to why whatsoever.

Bringing back Raditz does intrigue me. He's really one of those what-if characters. The thought of another RR movie with them powering up Raditz doesn't.

I don't usually believe in such things, but it makes me wonder, where did they leave Raditz's body? And is it even possible to reanimate Raditz if his soul is already in hell.Jord wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 1:09 pmIt's hard to tell with such shitty quality screengrabs. I will overlook the fact that it's been twenty one years since Raditz was killed (in-universe, so it shouldn't be possible to even think about "retrieving his corpse" in such a perfect state. "Decomposition" is not a thing in Dragon Ball? Of course, this is fiction so there are plenty of workarounds), if that means I will get to see more of Raditz anyway.
Hoping that turns out to be true.

If Gero filmed all of Gokus fights he should have known where Raditz body was after his fight and could have send for someone to retrieve it.Grimlock wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 1:21 pm I will overlook the fact that it's been twenty one years since Raditz was killed (in-universe, so it shouldn't be possible to even think about "retrieving his corpse" in such a perfect state. That inherently creates another problem. Why have a Saiyans corpse and NOT turn it into an android, like 17&18, instead of using weak fleshy humans? Wouldn't an Alien turned into an android who has a connection to Goku and would want to see him killed be a far more valuable asset than kidnapped orphans?Jord wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 1:47 pmIf Gero filmed all of Gokus fights he should have known where Raditz body was after his fight and could have send for someone to retrieve it.Grimlock wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 1:21 pm I will overlook the fact that it's been twenty one years since Raditz was killed (in-universe, so it shouldn't be possible to even think about "retrieving his corpse" in such a perfect state. There's also the fact Bulma, Krillin and Roshi were there, and we know Bulma collected Raditz's scouter. Why would they leave the body there? We also know that Bulma much later was able to replicate Saiyan armor and Raditz's armor would be the best starting point. So the one to most likely have Raditz's body would be Bulma and Capsule Corp, not the RRA. Especially since we're already aware that Gero's insect bots were there to only record data and collect cell samples. Gero was acting more covertly. Stealing a body wouldn't be very covert.

Honestly, why would they move his body though? That's not really something I could imagine the gang doing. Also, I believe she replicated the armor off of Vegeta's after they began living together. Do we believe they stripped Raditz's corpse? I can understand her grabbing the scouter off his face but stripping him seems odd.Zelvin wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 2:18 pmThat inherently creates another problem. Another thing, Raditz being sealed away by Gero/RR totally makes sense. It would be odd if they didn't retrieve his body tbh. Why not use his body? Why not use Cold's? Maybe they understood human physiology much much better. Maybe a dead candidate is very hard to resurrect and use. Maybe Ki isn't connected to the body but the soul? Maybe he never actually died and they managed to retrieve his body but couldn't control him? Who knows?
There's a million reasons and we truly have no way of knowing at the moment which one it was.
The bigger picture here is that it doesn't really matter narratively. Raditz being presented now is arguably more impactful than during the Android arc. Either way, it's a neat idea if real. It doesn't take away from the previous arcs at all in my opinion. It's a pretty cool idea that I'm sure they'll butcher if it comes down to it. I'm along for the ride anyway.
