I'm really concerned about how this movie might be received, okay, maybe the critics will give it a high score, mostly because of how beautiful and progressive the CGI animation has gotten in this movie. But the audience, well, most of the fans that is, can totally destroy it, starting from the fact that Goku and Vegeta are reduced to mere cameos, to the roles of Gohan and Piccolo being poorly written or imposed, to the fact that the most beloved villain is treated like crap and turned into an obese creature and so on...

Well, the Japanese might eat it up, since they usually don't care, but as far as for the English viewers, this could seriously devide the fandom even more.

They even started making this stuff, lol.

I probably wouldn't worry about that. Goku and Vegeta have been at the front and center for so long that a lot of people might find it to be a breathe of fresh air at this point.

And as for how characters could be treated especially the old beloved villains, there was that risk with Frieza and more so with Broly before it. So it ain't anything new.

Broly was massively popular and they changed him a fair amount for the new version and that could have really backfires but it didn't.

I'm not so concerned, I mean even if you just look at this thread you can see a lot fans eagerly anticipating the movie. People seem hyped!

But even if that wasn't the case, who cares? Let the fandom cry if they want to, I'm a "selfish fan" who is more concerned about his own enjoyment. "F" the fandom.

It's your choice to get offended and it's your choice to stick to and give money and time to a franchise that offends you. Seems unhealthy to me.

Really weird how there doesn't seem to be a theme song. The movie gets compared with the intro's to the PS3/PS4 Dragon Ball games bust most of those actually had unique theme songs. Regardless whether the movie will be good or not, I think we can all agree that the marketing feels very off. With Dragon Ball being such a big property I'd expect TOEI to shine a huge spotlight on the first big DB project since the Broly movie.

If it's Cell then I'll be disappointed to the max, I remember after Fukkatsu no F it was laughed that Golden Cell will appear in the next movie. Not Golden Cell and not right after Fukkatsu no F, but 85% it's going to be Cell. I'm annoyed by the pigeonholing of Gohan into a character who is only associated with defeating Cell, I wish they would cut away from that image and give him another big bad who isn't an android or another Cell and after defeating him Gohan will be remembered just as well as the one who fought Cell.


And yes after this movie people will be laughing and flooded with memes like original vs cheap copy. IF it's Cell then I appreciate Gohan much more for fighting Kefla in the manga or Dyspo in the anime.
