Charles Martinet? I was not expecting that. Also, has Elise Baughman just stopped voicing Pan? She voiced her in the Xenoverse games, so I assumed she was still working with Funi, but then again, those were a while ago at this point.

The day Dragon Ball has such clout it can land an actor who shares a role with the legendary Christopher Pratt. The times we live in!

In all seriousness, Charles Martinet is a cool, unexpected get. The whole cast looks good with the exception of the guy voicing Carmine- I don’t know him from anything but if that line in the trailer was his then it was really dodgy-sounding. But that could just be taken out of context.

I remember thinking a while back that Justin Briner would have been perfect for Dr Hedo- it’s a shame Sabat kept trying to plug him into little bit parts instead of waiting for something with more substance. But instead they got the other guy who plays the goody-two shoes lead in a major current shonen so all good. I can really hear the Tanjiro voice-breaking in that “HOLY CRAP” at the end.

Lastly, will this be Eric Vale’s first time voicing a fusion? If so that’s a fun milestone.

Phoned in means to do something in a perfunctory way or with little interest, not to voice a character through a phone lol. Broly did sound weird when talking calmly.

On facebook I saw an image of after the battle with english subs - Gohan saying something like: "even with Vegeta - not even Dad would have won this battle."

Of course it's just fan subs, but Final Gohan can't be close to Ultra Instinct Goku.

Cell Max can't be that powerful, no way. Maybe Gohan is just cocky lol

She voices Pan in the legends mobile game that came out after XV although i dont play it so i don know if its new voice clips or recycled ones.

He didn't say wouldn't have, he said even they might not have. Just means even they'd have trouble.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention was them actually showing us dragon ball fights in real time with Future Trunks killing Freeza, I thought it was neat, since most of the time we just have to accept that dragon ball fights are slowed down for us.

Surprised at how decent that camrip was, and props to the anonymous translator, too. They're the real heroes .

Just wanna say I absolutely loved the movie. You can do it, Toei! You can actually make a Dragon Ball movie where Goku doesn't save the day! The Red Ribbon Army not only living under everyone's noses, but also using the power of misinformation to set well-meaning people (or at least "non-bad" people as Piccolo calls it ) astray felt very modern and yet still very Dragon Ball. The scenes where the RR look back and recontextualize Capsule Corp and the fighters as villains was great; it's honestly been a long time coming for a human's viewpoint on all the wacky things the main cast gets into. A lot of hand-wavey moments like Gohan not sensing Piccolo's ki and Piccolo not remembering he can grow large would be annoying, but I honestly thought that level of hand-waviness is perfectly in-line with what the series has always been about.

Lol at seeing yet another retelling of Dr. Gero's death. I know it's potato quality so I can't say for sure, but I honestly didn't mind the switching between CG for the present time and 2D for the flashbacks. I will say that I thought the scenes with Whis/Goku/etc stood out the most in terms of wonky CG. People have mentioned phoned in deliveries, and while I don't agree there, I do feel like on a technical level, those scenes didn't nearly feel as polished as the rest of the movie, which felt very detail-oriented (lots of fun background jokes like the Gammas goofing around with each other, Pan's teacher getting cut off while driving, and Pan throwing away Gohan's glasses). Also really weird that Yajirobe didn't get any spoken lines but Karin did? You'd think if they couldn't get both VAs for that scene that they'd just make it a quick audio-less scene of Piccolo getting the senzu.

I mostly liked the movie's treatment of transformations. Piccolo's Orange form felt like a long-deserved upgrade, and the slight call-backs to all his lore made it feel more appreciated even if it was ultimately used to buy time and not save the day. Cell "coming back" on paper felt like a meh idea at best, but to have him serve more as a kaiju and for Piccolo to get large and have a legit kaiju fight between the both of them offered something new for the series (honestly surprised that the closest we've gotten to a kaiju fight before this was with Movie 13. Gohan Blanco... omg lol it finally came true. I appreciate the effort, and even the callback to SSJ2 with the red line zapping into frame, but at the end of the day it felt like yet another SSJ form to toss into the pile. But also I get that's less a complaint about the movie and more about the treatment of SSJ in modern DB just in general.

And, of course, all of Pan's scenes were wholesome af. Her breaking out of the handcuffs were great. Her entire "character arc" felt a lot like early DB with kid Goku getting into hijinx and randos always underestimating his strength. I hope we get to see a lot more of that type of Pan in future DB stuff.

I know the joke by the end was that Goku and Vegeta were too busy to even know there was a threat on Earth, but I do feel it was a missed opportunity to not include Mr Satan in on that joke as well. Feels weird for the RR to name-drop him so many times and yet we never actually see him. I'd assume it was in the end-credits bits (couldn't tell for sure), but I could just imagine a scene with Videl thanking her dad for paying to fix the house after Gohan's powering-up destroyed it.

A mostly good movie, I'd definitely watch it again in non-potato quality in en environment where I can confidently say I'm not gonna be exposed to a Big World Virus.

Yes, unfortunately. It would had been great seeing Great Saiyaman and Gamma No. 2 showing lame poses each other, but I guess Gohan is a grown man with a daughter and a (real) job to take time playing superheroes , since there's already Krilling to watch Satan City.

Anyway, I haven't had this much fun since BoG. You can feel that Toriyama was heavily involved. On a side note, I felt that some scenes in the film were too rushed, so I hope they will release an uncut version with more content in DVD/Blu-Ray.
