Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
Super Hero has completely dropped off the map now in Japan. It was #15 yesterday but today it's not in the Top 25. It's ticket sales aren't a third of what they were yesterday so it must have dropped a lot of theatres. There's just no trace of it.
It does mean any chance of surpassing Super Android 13 is gone.
I've got it at like ¥2.489 billion give or take. It can probably just about scrounge up the remaining little bit to get to ¥2.5 billion.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
Super Hero looks to have sold 58,000 tickets Day 1 in Argentina. Broly sold 109,000...
However it is better than Resurrection F which did 52,000.

Is this week Super Hero's last week in Japan ?Xeno Goku Black wrote: Fri Aug 19, 2022 8:20 am Super Hero has completely dropped off the map now in Japan. My prediction was right one piece Red grossed 8 billion yen (63 million $) as of now, Super hero just got obliterated. Theaters count for superhero decreasing day by day in japanXeno Goku Black wrote: Fri Aug 19, 2022 8:20 am Super Hero has completely dropped off the map now in Japan. Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
"We hearing from industry sources that Crunchyroll’s sequel, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, notched an estimated $4M in Thursday night previews, trouncing Universal’s Idris Elba lion movie, Beast, which did $925K at 2,900 theaters. Both began previews at 5PM last night. Crunchyroll is sending out an official update tomorrow.
Super Hero‘s start last night has a shot at getting it near $15M, while the fate of Beast, despite being 72% fresh among Rotten Tomatoes critics, is likely in the single digit range at 3,743 theaters."
Movie made an estimated $4 million in US from previews which started from 5pm yesterday.
These previews will likely count towards its opening day.

"Crunchyroll is on course to steal No. 1 at the box office with its anime sequel Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, which is looking at $8M-$10M today (including those $4M previews) for a $17M-$20M take at 3,130 theaters. Universal’s Idris Elba movie, Beast, is clocking $4.1M today and eyeing a $10M 3-day at 3,743 locations.
Really would not be too shabby. Movies like this will be extremely frontloaded and it'll drop off fast but depending on if it were to hit that low end or the high end then in 3 days it would have grossed what Broly did in 4 or 5 days when maybe people were expecting worse.
That Jujutsu Kaisen 0 opened to about $17 million and ended up with $33 million while Demon Slayer opened to $21 million and ended up with $50 million for comparison.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
Movie has sold 94,000 tickets in Argentina in two days. Broly did 196,000.
It also opened at #10 in UK apparently.
Not that I've heard much else but the only good news for it so far seems to be US lol.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
Seems the states will have to carry this movie. But man what a missed opportunity, if this movie had been pushed with as mush enthusiasm as Broly by TOEI, I'm positive it would have surpassed Broly. The reviews are good so I'm glad this movie underperforming (relatively to Broly) won't be blamed on the story or the narrative or the characters.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
unfortunately Toei only cares about how much money it makes, this movie is the lowest performing movie out of the modern Dragon ball movie triology in japan, The next movie is already in the works and I am pretty sure it will be Goku ,vegeta show.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
How true is it that this film just had an $11M opening day in NA?

Yup, 4.5M in previews Thursday+ apparently 6.5M this Friday. It's overperforming in America, probably going to have an opening weekend of +20M hopefully.ClutchBangstrip wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:46 am How true is it that this film just had an $11M opening day in the US?

Interesting.
Now I'm curious about SA. Will both markets eclipse Japan's entire run in just their openings? Doesn't the opposite usually happen?

"Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero grossed an estimated $10.75M on Friday (from 3,007 locations), including $4.30M from Thursday previews."
More specifically The Numbers has it being exactly $10.745 million.
Now when it says opening day that is including everything from 5pm Thursday till the end of Friday. However it would officially count as opening day so in that regard I don't know if it's the highest opening day for an anime movie ever.
This could end up having an opening weekend of above $20 million if it's not too frontloaded. Which funnily enough would make surpass Japan's gross after a couple months.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
What do you think the total worldwide gross is going to be ? I'm thinking 60-70 M hopefully it's going to surpass Resurrection FXeno Goku Black wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 11:31 amPretty true indeed.ClutchBangstrip wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:46 am How true is it that this film just had an $11M opening day in NA?

"This weekend we have Crunchyroll’s anime title Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero rallying to a $21M-$23M. Why the range? Because these Crunchyroll (ne Funimation) movies are frontloaded and Saturday could easily drop. Friday clocked $10.74M, including $4.3M in Thursday previews."
If by chance it did open to $23 million then that's in 3 days what Broly took 7 days to reach.
If in US it does in fact open in that range mentioned above that would already be $40 million just between Japan and 3 days of US.
But I do think US could be one of the few countries where Super Hero rivals Broly.
At a very rough guess, knowing very little about how it's doing in other countries it's opened in except it doesn't appear to be doing as well as Broly I'd say...maybe $80-90 million.
Japan - $18 million
US - If it had the similar legs as MHA, JJK and Demon Slayer it could do like $35-40 million.
Rest of the World - Broly did $60 million outside of Japan and US. If Super Hero did half as much that's about $30 million.
It could do over $90 million but I'd be surprised with $100 million.

It's very difficult to say with things like this, it's not the most conventional movie. It'll be more than that though I imagine.Guts001 wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 11:35 am]What do you think the total worldwide gross is going to be ? I'm thinking 60-70 M hopefully it's going to surpass Resurrection F

Yeah, don't know where that came from. The source links to Box Office Mojo which says no such thing and nothing has been announced yet shouldn't be until tomorrow.Mr_CINDER wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:04 pm according to wikipedia this movie grossed 35.39 million as of now worldwide.
The only gross we know is $18.4 million for Japan as of last Sunday and $10.75 million on the first day in US.

Box poffice mojo is terrible for tracking anime movies and in general indepth analysis follow The numbers https://www.the-numbers.com/ this is the most reliable website for any movieXeno Goku Black wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:17 pmYeah, don't know where that came from. Yeah I try and get all the individual sources where I can and add them up if anything. Broly is listed on BOM at $115 million when it did close to $10 million more than that.
Even The Numbers which has been pretty good still says just $5 million for Japan.
