Demon slayer(504 million) and jujutsu kaisen(190 million) movie's are upto date in the numbers and broly sits at (122.7 million)Xeno Goku Black wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:33 pm Yeah I try and get all the individual sources where I can and add them up if anything. Broly is listed on BOM at $115 million when it did close to $10 million more than that.
Even The Numbers which has been pretty good still says just $5 million for Japan.

I wonder if the stuff with Legends, Fortnite, and that MASSIVE manga twist was all part of their plan. Cuz I gotta admit, I found their marketing so low that it had to be on purpose.
Dragon Ball was trending on Twitter and YT for 3 or 4 straight days, for different reasons. For really short periods it was trending, taking up several spots on the same list.

Great news for the US, but Super Hero is looking at a $21 million opening.Xeno Goku Black wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:01 pm Rest of the World - Broly did $60 million outside of Japan and US. If Super Hero did half as much that's about $30 million.
It could do over $90 million but I'd be surprised with $100 million.
Since the movie has already made $18.4 million in Japan, even $30 million from the rest of the world would be fantastic as that would put it above Resurrection F globally.
Clearly Dragon Ball sells itself, but a bigger marketing push like Super Broly got would have helped. Hopefully TOEI realizes this for the next movie.
It also made more money opening day (excluding Thursday previews) than Pokemon : The First Movie did back in 1999 ($10.8 million vs $10.1 million). That's an achievement in of itself because that movie was a huge deal.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
So sometime later today the worldwide box office figures will come out. As Super Hero is officially at like $18 million right now this will be the biggest jump that this movie will get.
Not all information comes out immediately so I'll probably have to make a few posts as things come through.
Personally I'm hoping when the number drops it's over $50 million worldwide. I'd be disappointed with less. Seeing as it should be at around $40 million just between US and Japan then I'd hope all the other countries combined can at least add up enough to get the movie past $50 million. I can't see it going as high as $60 million though.
Battle of Gods made $51 million total so it would be something if it could pass that at least.

"Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero debuted with an estimated $20.1M this weekend (from 3,018 locations)."
A real good opening, though outside the $21-23 million range estimated on Deadline. That should be good for #1. Slightly off Demon Slayers opening though.
That 3 day is the same as Broly's 5 day.
The question would be if it could hit $40 million domestic. If it had opened to say $22-23 million it would have had a good shot but with $20 million....maybe not.

The movie opened at number 10 in the UK don't know how that compares to Broly. Also, there was this tweet about Brasil : https://twitter.com/kamisamaexp/status/ ... tVByA&s=19

So 150,000 admissions in Brazil, maybe from the 18th to the 21st if that's what they're counting?
I had Resurrection F selling 332,000 tickets total and Broly selling 106,000 tickets day 1 and 760,000 tickets in 8 days.
From what bit I have seen it does seem as though Super Hero isn't going to have the same runaway success in South America as Broly. It looks to be more comparable to Resurrection F so far.
Either way the figures are dropping slowly now so a matter of time before we hear what Super Hero is at.

I never thought I’d see the day when a Dragon Ball film was number one at the North American box office.

"Overseas, Super Hero opened to $12.0M in 31 markets, for a $32.0M global start.
Major markets still to release include Germany on August 30, Spain on September 2, South Korea on September 15, Italy on September 29, and France on October 5."
That would mean it was at $20 million prior when only Japan had a release and it's made $18.5 million....but whatever. With the $20.1 million US weekend that's $52.1 million worldwide.
So it's surpassed Battle of Gods worldwide total. I'm not sure what the individual breakdowns are yet. I'll do some comparisons when I can.

Oh I made a mistake its global start is the US $20 million and the rest which was $12 million so that's the $32 million. Add in Japan and it's $50 million. So it may or may not be past BoG.
Apparently the OW in Mexico was $3.7 million where Broly did like $6.5 million? So it's going to be down a lot most places except US.
Sort of, it's no Broly but it's not bad.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
So yeah give or take Broly had a combined opening weekend of $21.3 million from what I have is 21 countries.
Super Hero apparently has made $12 million from the same markets plus an extra 10 (though they'd be smaller markets).
That's be like 44% drop amongst the same markets. It's not exact, we'll get actuals eventually and I can make a better comparison but make of that what you will.
Resurrection F made $25 million outside of Japan and US. It does seem like Super Hero is going to be much more comparable to that amount than Broly's $58 million.

Very strange. It's not a popular opinion but I think this is literally jus Toei seeing what they can get away with or trying new things with this film. A movie about Gohan and Piccolo in CGI?Super Saiyan Swagger wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 11:36 pmFunny you mention the manga twist. I jus read an article where it's stated that they expect DB to remain their highest earning property despite the fact that they're pouring far more money into every other franchise. They say Gundam is ahead for now but they don't expect to remain that way. Very bizarre, to me.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
Super Hero has only been given opening weekend estimates for the five countries listed below and bare in mind actuals will change but I've listed the openings for the other countries as well for comparison.
Resurrection F
Argentina - $1.45 million
Australia - $622,000
Mexico - $3.43 million
New Zealand - $82,000
Peru - $1.13 million
Broly
Argentina - $1.55 million
Australia - $950,000
Mexico - $6.8 million
New Zealand - $205,000
Peru - $2.54 million
Super Hero
Argentina - $1.5 million
Australia - $535,000
Mexico - $3.7 million
New Zealand - $117,000
Peru - $1.2 million
So except for Argentina (surprisingly because the ticket sales were certainly down), Super Hero is down from like 40-50% when compared to Broly.
With the exception of Australia (also surprising), Super Hero is slightly up every where compared to Resurrection F.
This to me suggests that outside of Japan, US and China the international gross could end up being $26-30 million.
Meaning again $80-90 million worldwide is where it's looking to go.

Japan’s numbers are actually embarrassing now that the US beat it in just the opening weekend. Hopefully Toei or whoever the marketing team is learn their lesson for the next film.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread
A couple more markets revealed.
Chile it opened to $680,000. Down considerably from the $1.74 million that Broly did but its more than the $592,000 of Resurrection F.
UK it opened to $800,000 which is about £677,000. That's down from Broly's $1.12 million which did £850,000.
Now that's a bit unfortunate considering that Super Hero does have a much wider release in UK. The thing there though is that Broly ended with £1 million so 85% of its earning came from that first weekend because there wasn't much in the way of showings afterwards. That may not be the case for Super Hero to such an extent so it may not drop off so fast and may catch up some ground, maybe.
