Should Young Jijii get hired by the Dragon Ball Room?
Should Young Jijii join the franchise officially and take part in a spin-off series like Dragon Garow Lee did? Or should he remain the independant fan-manga artist he's been thus far?
I honestly only read his Dragon Ball AF creations back in the late 2000s and early 2010s. I don't recall it being any more meaningful than what "Toyable" (Toyotaro) had done.

I don't see why not, he's talented. The more artists working on the series, the better (so that the art-direction doesn't stay too repetitive)
But one has to wonder if he ever tried applying or just prefers to stay a fan-creator.

I'm not really sure they can do that considering how often they just copy panels. Like...constantly.

Well, as long as he could contribute new and fresh ideas that the Dragon Room could not, why not? Maybe it would help diversify the franchise, though it could also inadvertently bloat the franchise if not done well.

More than Toyotaro?
In any case, if we want more artists drawing Dragon Ball manga, we should start with people who are good at writing and art first, and Dragon Ball-specific artists second. I would rather see a quality product that doesn't quite look like Toriyama than an attempt at mimicking his style that doesn't quite meet the mark of overall quality.
Plus, it is veeeeeeeery rare that I've seen a Dragon Ball fan whose ideas for character writing or worldbuilding really impressed me. Most of them are just trying to make new forms or bad guys that are "cool" or "fix" things that seemed broken in the original manga. Few of them view DB as a jumping-off point for experimentation or prioritize quality pacing and plotting above things that serve their specific wants as fans. Not everyone can be Ian Flynn, so to speak.

Yeah, he really copies a ton of panels from the 1984 comic. Even just reading one or two chapters it becomes really apparently how much he's repeating the same copied panels.Shaddy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 10:13 amMore than Toyotaro?

Almost all the current DB artists hired by Shuiesha were former fan manga artists so they're likely already aware of Young Jiji and most others. Maybe one day if they decide on more spin-offs.

I doubt Youngjijii will ever get hired because of his hentai history...
Fenyo on other hand deserves much more than being working on DB videogames.

Not a problem, but more of a waste when you are as talented as Fenyo is. Someone of his level should be working on some official DB spinoff manga. He's much better than those we have right now.

I'm not sure if that will stop them from hiring him, since there are at least two people named in here that have worked on Dragon Ball that have a pornographic history. This has happened with other popular series where they will hire the person despite them having made pornographic works before. But also I will admit that I do not know much about these DB specific famous doujin authors so I don't know if the several hentai doujins he made are as popular as his fan manga series. So I was not sure if you meant "hentai history" in the sense that it is a large part of his image if someone brings him up.FortuneSSJ wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 12:42 pm I doubt Youngjijii will ever get hired because of his hentai history...

I don't see how this is a "waste". They're putting their talent onto something that will give their name more visibility. They are getting to work as an official member of a huge franchise I presume they are a big fan of. I don't think it matters what you get to work with, be it a game, a manga or whatever, just being part of it should be enough. So again, if you could tell me how their talent is being "wasted", I'd appreciate it.FortuneSSJ wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 1:11 pmNot a problem, but more of a waste when you are as talented as Fenyo is. If anything, their situation is better than my poor girl Ooishi Naho's, stuck in a manga that barely anyone remembers or cares to read, I think. I don't even know if Dragon Ball SD is released outside of Japan. But to work in a game is a great thing, especially if it gets released everywhere, instead of being released just in Japan.
I've imagined this being the future of Dragon Ball, by the way. Once Toriyama retires, I think Shueisha will hire some artists to do Dragon Ball stories. If this "Young Jijii" continues to be popular and such, they might soon be officially joining in and colaborating with the franchise.
Anyway, I didn't know this "Fenyo" joined the Dragon Ball community. What have they been doing?

He's one of the guys that draws for Legends, Dokkan Battle and Xenoverse loading screen illustrations.

I also like Fenyo N's works, most of the time. I hate it that he's too Saiyans-focused when other characters can get his fine treatment of showing possible scenarios of their biographies.
Not to mention that Fenyo got into trouble last Halloween for drawing and posting a piece where Gotenks sexually harassed Videl by picking up her shirt and making her feel awfully embarrassed.

Bruh, funny you should mention that, considering his most recent post on his Insta, that I saw earlier today lol

Also, it's possible he's lurking here, saw my reply and went into full trolling mode. I remember seeing that last October and feeling disgusted. There was a lot of internet complaints about that drawing as in not to normalise sexual harassment. In Israel, the episode with Yurin was completely removed due to Madter Roshi's sexual harassment of her.

That person must be in heaven then. I really like XV2's loading screens. So good for them to have their talent acknowledged and are now contributing to the franchise.FortuneSSJ wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 1:01 amHe's one of the guys that draws for Legends, Dokkan Battle and Xenoverse loading screen illustrations.
